Senior Officer, Legacy & Planned Giving

The Centre for Refugee Children—a partnership project of Christie Refugee Welcome Centre and FCJ Refugee Centre—provides direct settlement services to unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) in Ontario, with a specialized focus on ensuring access to justice for refugee and migrant children and youth who are navigating the refugee claim process or other immigration proceedings. In addition to serving UASC across the province, accompanied refugee and migrant children who have exceptional legal and settlement needs may also be eligible to access services and support from the Centre.Through its establishment, the Centre for Refugee Children aims to strengthen connections with community organizations and government divisions to improve immigration, child welfare and settlement outcomes for children, youth and families supported by the project. The Centre also engages in public education and advocacy initiatives in response to issues impacting unaccompanied and separated children in Ontario and throughout Canada.The Centre for Refugee Children has an opportunity for a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Child Representative Staff&nbsp;to join our team.Reporting directly to the Centre’s Director and the Centre’s Policy &amp; Advocacy Coordinator, this role will operate within the Centre’s Child Representative Program to provide direct support to children who are navigating immigration legal proceedings, including refugee claim hearings and admissibility hearings before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) as well as front-end interviews and immigration applications.Regular work hours will be Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Strategic Plan Development and Monitoring 
2026 will be an exciting year of creating the next Strategic Plan for BBBSC. Working closely with 
the CEO, Board of Directors, SLT and network of Agencies, the VP Strategy will co-create a multi-
year strategic plan with the goal that that every child in Canada that needs mentoring services can 
access them. 
 
Program and Operating Model Evolution 
BBBSC is evaluating our programs and service delivery model to determine what will best serve the 
children that access our mentoring programs. The VP Strategy will lead this work, including 
developing a current state analysis and a case for change including rationale, costs and 
implementation plans. 
 
Network Development 
The VP Strategy will oversee BBBSC’s Network Development services to ensure that Agencies have 
the support that they need to thrive, grow and demonstrate measurable outcomes. This includes 
evolving our performance data collection, analysis, and dashboard capabilities in order to provide 
advisory services to members. It will also include enhanced learning and development options and 
resources. 
 

 Transformation Project Management and Cross Functional Alignment 
The VP Strategy will develop BBBSC’s capacity to project-manage major business integration 
projects which includes developing internal teams, leveraging BBBSC’s agencies and national teams 
in network development, IT, operations, communications and resource mobilization capacity to 
align efforts in support of major initiatives.

It is!House of Friendship’s Board is made up of seven to eleven Board Directors (Directors), who are elected for a term expiring not later than the close of the fourth annual meeting of Members following the election. Directors may serve up to three successive terms.  The Board is responsible for overseeing the affairs of the organization in accordance with legislation and ensuring alignment with the Vision, Mission and Values. It works with the Organizational Leadership Team to develop and approve strategic plans, annual budgets and monitors performance against organizational goals. It upholds accountability to stakeholders, ensures financial integrity through audits and manages organizational risk. Additionally, the Board is responsible for hiring, conducting evaluations and if necessary, dismissing the CEO.
