<h2>THE Network - Call for Volunteers</h2>Toronto Home Energy Network (THE Network) is a non-profit that helps homeowners in Toronto get a heat pump with the support of their community. For the climate, our comfort and our safety, it's time to get our homes off gas. The future is all-electric and we're looking for volunteers to help bring this better future along faster.<h3>Why Volunteer With Us</h3>Toronto's homes burn A LOT of natural gas. Gas furnaces and boilers are the biggest source of pollution (and our biggest opportunity) in Toronto. Heat pumps make furnaces and boilers obsolete. Even without the climate benefits, they're modern, safe and deliver better comfort.Ontario's electricity is among the cleanest in the world. Heat pumps run very efficiently on electricity, so that as our grid gets greener our homes are futureproof. Our goal is simple: we explain heat pumps and how they can work in every type of home. Then we get people who have them to share their experiences with their neighbours and help them get their own. The Community Climate Council (CCC) is based in Peel Region, Ontario, led by a committed 

team of environmental advocate volunteers who are driven by the urgency of the climate crisis. 

Founded with the vision of creating a platform for local voices to demand action, our work is 

rooted in community-led solutions. We approach every project with a focus on collaboration, 

and equity, ensuring that our efforts are both community-centered and solution-driven. 

ROLE DESCRIPTION: 

The Community Climate Council has developed a series of free materials for youth that are 

available on our website. Now, we need to bring the materials to teachers across the region so 

they can use them in their classrooms. This is where you come in! We are seeking a dynamic 

and personable Education Coordinator to support the Community Climate Council by managing 

our partnerships with educational institutions and promoting our educational resources and 

opportunities. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the success of our educational 

programs by managing outreach efforts, developing school partnerships, and creating 

meaningful, well-supported experiential learning opportunities for students. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Partnership Building 
â Connect with EcoSchools in Peel Region and Greater Toronto Area to see how we 

can collaborate. 

â Lead outreach efforts with secondary and post-secondary educational 
institutions to build relationships and create student placement (co-op, 

internship)opportunities. 

• Educational Resource Offerings 
â Connect with teachers and guidance counsellors to raise awareness of our guest 

speaking, guest lecture, and workshops offerings and secure teaching 

opportunities. 





 

â Promote and share our educational materials across various grades (Municipal 
Deputation Workbook, Climate Hub, and Ephemeral Education). 

â Gather feedback on our educational offerings such as our ephemeral education 
colouring pages, Climate Hub, Kahoot, and others. 

â Update our programs and materials as needed to meet different audience needs, 
curriculum ties, or align with justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. 

• Communication &amp; Collaboration: 
â Identify key contacts within partner schools and establish clear communication 

and referral protocols. 

â Research and deliver community outreach initiatives to promote professional 
development opportunities (ex., internships) and engage diverse student 

populations. 

â Coordinate with internal departments to assess internship needs and ensure 
appropriate role placement and supervision. 

• Program Development: 
â Research funding and grant opportunities related to internship and experiential 

education programs. 

â Collaborate with the Grants team to draft and submit grant applications. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Skills and Experience: 
â Bachelor’s degree in Education, Environment, or a related field focused on youth 

development or experiential education, or an equivalent combination of 

education and lived experience. 

â Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build 
relationships with diverse stakeholders. 

â Excellent organizational and time-management skills. 
â Familiarity with database management and administrative tools (e.g., Google 

Sheets). 

â Organization and ability to prepare packages to promote our free materials for 
distribution and think creatively to get materials out in the community. 

â&nbsp; Marketing skills an asset 
â Knowledge of the Ontario school system and school boards would be an asset. 
â French as a second language would be an asset.

The Foster Program Manager also plays a key role in volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention, while maintaining accurate records, breaking down silos across departments, and continuously improving foster program effectiveness for both cats and the people who care for them.&nbsp;&nbsp;Key Responsibilities&nbsp;Foster Program Leadership&nbsp;<ul><li>Lead, mentor, and support volunteer Foster Coordinators through regular check-ins and virtual/in-person meetings, managing all facets of the cat program: behaviour, enrichment, medical, volunteers </li><li>Oversee continuous recruitment and onboarding of volunteer Foster Coordinators and foster homes to maintain and grow capacity</li><li>Manage and mentor the New Foster Home Screening team to ensure appropriate recruitment, screening and onboarding of new foster families, supporting the ongoing development of the Foster Program</li><li>Ensure the foster program is effective, responsive, and supportive for both cats and foster volunteers </li><li>Monitor cats in foster care to ensure appropriate care progression, and timely movement through the program to reduce length of stay </li><li>Maintain the centralized repository of foster-related information </li><li>Liaise with Foster Support &amp; Engagement Coordinator, Adoptions Manager and Intake Manager to break down silos, and ensure alignment across departments </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date cat records in the PetPoint CRM as required &nbsp;</li></ul>Medical &amp; Emergency Support (RVT Focus)&nbsp;<ul><li>Collaborate closely with the Medical Program Manager (RVT) on medical and behavioural foster cases </li><li>Assist with foster emergencies, including triage, decision-making, and guidance to volunteers </li><li>Apply RVT expertise to assess situations, provide practical guidance, and escalate appropriately &nbsp;</li></ul>Volunteer Management&nbsp;<ul><li>Support and mentor foster program leads </li><li>Assist with volunteer interviewing, training, workload management, and performance support as needed </li><li>Act as the primary contact for foster-related inquiries from other program area leads </li><li>Identify and proactively address volunteer coverage gaps to ensure smooth operations </li><li>Build strong, respectful working relationships with key volunteers and provide ongoing guidance and support &nbsp;</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Requirements&nbsp;<ul><li>Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing in Ontario is a mandatory requirement for this position </li><li>Minimum 3 years of experience&nbsp;shelter/rescue medicine or a high-volume veterinary environment&nbsp; </li><li>Strong working knowledge of feline health conditions and common behavioural concerns</li><li>Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure and triage urgent situations effectively </li><li>Experience working with and managing volunteers </li><li>Excellent communication and people-management skills </li><li>Proficient with digital tools for communication, record-keeping, and case tracking. </li><li>Highly organized, proactive, and action-oriented, with the ability to balance long-term goals and daily operations </li><li>Strong problem-solving and de-escalation skills in stressful situations </li><li>Ability to manage competing priorities independently and as part of a team </li><li>Experience with Google Workspace (G Suite) is an asset </li><li>Occasional in-person or on-site responsibilities (training sessions, meetings, volunteer and staff events)&nbsp;</li></ul>Work Environment &amp; Schedule&nbsp;<ul><li>Approximately 80% remote with flexible hours, with the day starting at 11am </li><li>Weekend work may be required in the busy season and in urgent situations </li><li>Occasional in-person or on-site responsibilities (large intakes, foster home visits for assessment and guidance, volunteer and staff events)&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>Compensation&nbsp;Full time salary of $60- $63,000 per year commensurate with level of education, credentials, and experience.
