Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) is seeking a Vice-President of Strategy to drive change 
across our Federation with the ultimate goal that every child in Canada that needs mentoring 
services can access them.

For over 110 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada (BBBSC) has been championing the health and 
wellbeing of young people across the country by supporting 80+ member agencies in a united 
Federation. The BBBSC national office provides the Federation with support, resources, and 
guidance, including a national quality assurance program, pan-Canadian mentoring programs, 
centralized data-collection, shared technology infrastructure, and national fundraising and 
advocacy campaigns. Together, we mobilize thousands of volunteers who mentor 33,000 children

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 
We are looking for a leader who thrives on working with diverse stakeholders to support federation-
wide change. The role requires a data-driven leader who is an empathetic listener and a creative 
thinker with a record of project completion and long-term success. This is a salaried position that 
reports to the President and CEO and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The Vice-

Strategic Plan Development and Monitoring 
2026 will be an exciting year of creating the next Strategic Plan for BBBSC. Working closely with 
the CEO, Board of Directors, SLT and network of Agencies, the VP Strategy will co-create a multi-
year strategic plan with the goal that that every child in Canada that needs mentoring services can 
access them. 
 
Program and Operating Model Evolution 
BBBSC is evaluating our programs and service delivery model to determine what will best serve the 
children that access our mentoring programs. The VP Strategy will lead this work, including 
developing a current state analysis and a case for change including rationale, costs and 
implementation plans. 
 
Network Development 
The VP Strategy will oversee BBBSC’s Network Development services to ensure that Agencies have 
the support that they need to thrive, grow and demonstrate measurable outcomes. This includes 
evolving our performance data collection, analysis, and dashboard capabilities in order to provide 
advisory services to members. It will also include enhanced learning and development options and 
resources. 
 

 Transformation Project Management and Cross Functional Alignment 
The VP Strategy will develop BBBSC’s capacity to project-manage major business integration 
projects which includes developing internal teams, leveraging BBBSC’s agencies and national teams 
in network development, IT, operations, communications and resource mobilization capacity to 
align efforts in support of major initiatives. 

 
ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL 

 • Strategic oversight: Departmental accountability for achieving goals and strategies and over-
arching organizational performance. 

 • Strategic Planning: Accountability for definition and implementation of goals, objectives and 
strategies related to the portfolio. Creates, executes and reports on project plans. Monitors and 
present on execution and achievements. 

 • Financial budget: Sets annual budget and has departmental budget approval authority. 
 • Human Resources: Manages direct reports, including work and performance planning and 

contributes to overall workplace culture. 
 • Governance: Direct participation in BBBSC governance through Board Meetings and 

committee meetings.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 
In addition to being a team player and analytical thinker, the successful candidate will have 
the following qualifications: 

 • A university degree in a related field, from a recognized academic institution, with graduate 
studies an asset. 

 • Outstanding organizational, leadership, stakeholder engagement, interpersonal and public 
speaking abilities. 

 • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving. 
 • Excellent business acumen and exemplary work ethic. 
 • Demonstrable competency in strategy, business analysis and case development. 
 • Experience in shared solution design and business case development 
 • Strong strategic planning and project management. 
 • Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic, collaborative and bi-lingual stakeholder 

environment 
 • High level of knowledge of MS Office and other current software applications focused on 

effective project management and administration. 
 • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and a commitment to equity and youth 

empowerment. 
 • Bilingualism (oral and written English and French) is an asset.

 FONCTIONS ET RESPONSABILITÉS 
Nous recherchons une personne dirigeante qui aime travailler avec diverses parties prenantes dans 
le but de soutenir le changement au sein de la fédération. Ce poste requiert une personne dirigeante 
axée sur les données, capable d’écoute empathique et dotée d’un esprit créatif, qui a déjà mené à bien 
des projets et obtenu des résultats positifs à long terme. Il s’agit d’un poste salarié relevant de la 
présidente et cheffe de la direction et faisant partie de l’équipe de la haute direction. La vice-
présidente ou le vice-président, Stratégie a les responsabilités suivantes : 


 
Élaboration et suivi du plan stratégique 
2026 sera une année stimulante, marquée par l’élaboration du prochain plan stratégique de GFGSC. 
En étroite collaboration avec la cheffe de la direction, le conseil d’administration, l’équipe de la haute 
direction et le réseau d’organismes, la vice-présidente ou le vice-président, Stratégie participera à 
l’élaboration d’un plan stratégique pluriannuel visant à permettre à chaque enfant au Canada qui a 
besoin de services de mentorat d’y avoir accès. 
 
Évolution des programmes et du modèle opérationnel 
GFGSC évalue actuellement ses programmes et son modèle de prestation de services afin de 
déterminer ce qui servira le mieux les enfants qui ont accès à ses programmes de mentorat. La vice-
présidente ou le vice-président, Stratégie dirigera ce travail, qui comprend l’analyse de la situation 
actuelle et la présentation d'arguments en faveur du changement, y compris la justification, les coûts 
et les plans de mise en Åuvre. 
 
Développement du réseau 
La vice-présidente ou le vice-président, Stratégie supervisera les services de développement du 
réseau de GFGSC afin de s’assurer que les organismes disposent du soutien nécessaire pour 
prospérer, croître et obtenir des résultats tangibles. Il s’agira notamment d’améliorer nos capacités 
en matière de collecte et d’analyse des données sur le rendement et de notre tableau de bord afin de 
fournir des services consultatifs aux membres. Cela comprendra également l’amélioration des 
options et des ressources en matière d’apprentissage et de perfectionnement. 
 

 Gestion de projets de transformation et harmonisation interfonctionnelle 
La vice-présidente ou le vice-président, Stratégie développera la capacité de GFGSC à gérer des 
projets d’intégration commerciale d’envergure, ce qui comprend la mise sur pied d’équipes internes, 
la mobilisation des organismes membres de GFGSC et des équipes nationales dans les domaines du 
développement du réseau, des technologies de l’information, des opérations, des communications et 
de la mobilisation des ressources afin d’harmoniser les efforts à l’appui des initiatives importantes. 

 
REDDITION DE COMPTES ET NIVEAU DE RESPONSABILITÉ 

 • Surveillance stratégique : Responsabilité du service pour la réalisation des objectifs, des 
stratégies et du rendement global de l’organisation. 

 • Planification stratégique : Responsabilité de la définition et de la mise en Åuvre des buts, des 
objectifs et des stratégies liés au portefeuille. Crée les plans de projet, les met en Åuvre et en 
rend compte. Surveille la mise en Åuvre et les réalisations et en rend compte. 

 • Budget financier : Établit le budget annuel et détient le pouvoir d’approbation du budget du 
service. 

 • Ressources humaines : Gère les subordonnées et subordonnés directs, y compris la 
planification du travail et du rendement, et contribue à la culture générale en milieu de travail. 

 • Gouvernance : Participation directe à la gouvernance de GFGSC dans le cadre des réunions du 
conseil d’administration et des comités.

Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services is a Community Health Centre that 

provides services and addresses system inequities in order to increase access to primary care and 

improve health outcomes for vulnerable population that includes immigrants, refugees, and their

We are looking for a diligent, organized and dedicated individual who is calm and solution focused to 

be part of the Centre’s Health with Dignity team. The successful candidate will work within a 

collaborative and interdisciplinary model of health and wellbeing, provide care and take part in 

planning and evaluation. Within the NP scope of practice the successful candidate will provide 

episodic care in our Fast Access to Care Clinic. This role is vital in addressing population and 

individual health concerns, ensuring clients receive timely, high quality care in a dynamic clinical 

environment. Through the Fast Access to Care Clinic the NP will support other Health with Dignity 

initiatives and work with specific immigrant, refugee and non-status populations that include women, 

2SLGBTQI+, youth, children and families.

Description 

Responsibilities: 

 • Providing episodic care to clients of all ages within the scope of a RN-EC including assessments, 

diagnosis, screening, referral, education, treatment, counselling and follow up; 

 • Delivering client-centered care for acute health issues, focusing on immediate needs and short-

term interventions and prioritization of clients based upon complexity criteria for appropriate 

referrals; 

 • Ability to manage an independent caseload that can include triage and urgent care; determines 

the need for orders and interprets screening and diagnostic laboratory tests, chest and limb x-

rays, diagnostic ultrasounds and screening mammography; 

 • Reviews client health, and, in cooperation with the client and other members of the team, 

direction for prioritization and recommendation concerning treatment, prevention and health 

promotion options; 

 • Tailor care approaches to meet the specific health requirements of the populations served, 

recognizing diverse health disparities; 

 • Provides appropriate, treatment and supports continuity of care through maintaining complete 

and accurate client records; 

 • Participating in primary health care program and service delivery within the broader community 

context in partnerships with other institutions as may be required from time to time; 

 • Participating in all organizational systems and structures as required including but not limited to, 

quality assurance and performance evaluation.

Skills and Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of and a commitment to the principles and 

underlying values of community health centers/model of health and well-being as well as: 

Required: 

 • Current Nurse Practitioner - Primary Health Care registration with the College of Nurses of 

Ontario 


Preferred: 

 • Clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner - Primary Health Care 

 • Experience working with Newcomer populations 

 • Experience in community or primary health care settings 

 • Experience in an episodic care or urgent care clinic or equivalent 

 • Experience in conducting thorough health assessments that include gathering information about 

relevant medical/family history, pre-existing conditions, current medications 

 • Strong cultural competency skills and ability to recognize and respect cultural differences 

 • Experience with chronic disease management such as diabetes or hypertension and ability to

 • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy and effective communication 

 • Thorough familiarity with therapeutic methods and practices based upon a health 

promotion/disease prevention model 

 • Ability to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary health care team which includes 

physicians, nurses, social workers, dieticians, physiotherapist, health coaches and community 

workers
