We need volunteers to run orientations for our students in order to help them work through challenges like culture shock, homesickness, and more. We teach intercultural learning to help foster responsible global citizens. &nbsp;

Summary:&nbsp;Provides clinical counselling and ongoing supervision of staff after assessing client’s social, psychological, emotional, and/or behavioural issues and by developing therapeutic programs and interventions.Key Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Supervise clinical counsellors, providing regular case consultation, performance feedback, and professional development support to ensure adherence to best practices and organizational standards.</li><li>Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and consultation to interdisciplinary staff, students, and partners by supporting case discussions, recommending evidence-based interventions, and promoting effective, continuous care for youth and families.</li><li>Oversee daily operations of walk-in counselling and allied health services, managing caseloads, supervising interns, and ensuring culturally responsive, evidence-informed practice.</li><li>Collaborate with inter-professional teams and community partners to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for youth and families, ensuring services are coordinated and client centered.</li><li>Design and deliver clinical education and training for staff and service providers using evidence-based models and adult learning principles; create relevant materials and evaluate effectiveness.</li><li>Support and supervise walk-in counselling staff and interns, including onboarding, annual performance evaluation input, and identifying learning needs to ensure clinical growth and competency.</li><li>Lead or participate in committees, case management meetings, and community initiatives, representing the clinical perspective and supporting the development of integrated service pathways.</li><li>Engage in public education, staff training, and outreach, delivering presentations, facilitating support groups, and promoting prevention strategies within the community.</li></ul>Counselling and Case Management Skills:<ul><li>Knowledge and awareness of a wide range of individual and family counselling techniques.</li><li>Knowledge of the principles of Integrated Case Management and ability to apply these principles in practice when working with allied professionals involved with clients.</li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of the broad range of issues pertaining to mental health and substance use among adolescents, young adults, and their families.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory and consultative processes and of clinical supervision models, with the ability to identify learning needs, teach, coach and provide clinical information and supervision.</li><li>Demonstrated therapeutic skills and the ability to apply theory and practice in the areas of case management and individual, family and group therapy with clients with a variety of mental health and substance use disorders.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge and application of trauma-informed and culturally safe principles of care.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of team-based primary care.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts, pertinent regulations, policy, procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (i.e. Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act; Health Care (Consent) and Care Facility (Admission) Act; Child, Family and Community Service Act; and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act).</li><li>Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, and provide clinical support.</li><li>Effective listening and consensus building skills that promote communication and lead to a cooperative approach to problem solving and decision making within interdisciplinary settings.</li><li>Ability to manage crisis situations and provide leadership to staff in the management of client crises.</li><li>Ability to make effective referrals in a collaborative manner, reflecting in-depth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners.</li><li>Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.</li></ul>Other Skills &amp; No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. Our Math Mentors are<ul><li>Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Available to meet once weekly during weekday afternoons between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for 90-minutes for in-person sessions, or 60 minutes for virtual sessions.</li></ul>Our Mentoring with Math volunteers are asked to enroll in two 8-10 week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program. Camp Goodtimes provides children and youth affected by cancer and their families with an unforgettable summer camp experience in a medically supervised, safe, and supportive environment.&nbsp;We’ve&nbsp;been friendship-building and memory-making in British Columbia since 1985,&nbsp;and work with&nbsp;nearly 500&nbsp;participants&nbsp;each summer through our kids, family, and youth camps.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our programs&nbsp;offer a variety of volunteer opportunities including Arts and Crafts, Dining Hall, Host and Skip&nbsp;(Camp Counsellor) roles!&nbsp;If&nbsp;you’re&nbsp;passionate about supporting vulnerable communities,&nbsp;comfortable&nbsp;working with&nbsp;kids,&nbsp;and&nbsp;enjoy&nbsp;the outdoors,&nbsp;we’d&nbsp;love to hear from you!&nbsp; &nbsp;We believe that time spent at camp allows kids to just be kids, away from their diagnosis. The first five weeks take place at the UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest’s stunning Loon Lake Retreat Centre near Maple Ridge, BC and our last three weeks of programming take place at Camp Pringle on the shores of Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island. Transportation is provided from Vancouver to our Maple Ridge site&nbsp;and back as well as from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal to our Vancouver Island site and back.&nbsp;Please note volunteers are able&nbsp;to drive&nbsp;their personal vehicles to&nbsp;site;&nbsp;parking is available but may be limited.&nbsp;&nbsp;Why We Need You&nbsp;&nbsp;The Canadian Cancer Society is proud to be a champion and voice for Canadians who care about cancer. CCS is proud to be able to and continue to provide summers of joy, confidence, support, and hope for children and families&nbsp;impacted&nbsp;by the disease.&nbsp;Our camps are designed to foster independence, increase confidence, and create an environment of understanding and support.&nbsp;All Camp Goodtimes programs are offered at no cost to&nbsp;participating&nbsp;families.&nbsp;We need you to&nbsp;continue to&nbsp;provide the&nbsp;distinct&nbsp;opportunity&nbsp;for connection&nbsp;Camp&nbsp;Goodtimes&nbsp;offers to&nbsp;all&nbsp;affected&nbsp;by the reality of childhood cancer.&nbsp;&nbsp;What&nbsp;We’re&nbsp;Looking For&nbsp;&nbsp;All volunteer applicants must be a minimum of 20 years of age by December 31, 2026.&nbsp;Those hoping to volunteer at Teen Camp must be a minimum of 25 years of age before the&nbsp;session's&nbsp;start date.&nbsp;&nbsp;Camp Goodtimes Volunteers are:&nbsp;&nbsp;Positive role models and leaders for campers.&nbsp;&nbsp;Self-motivated and&nbsp;demonstrate&nbsp;strong&nbsp;values.&nbsp;&nbsp;Excited&nbsp;to work in an environment that is focused on helping children build connections and realize their full potential.&nbsp;Team players&nbsp;and willing to support where needed.&nbsp;&nbsp;Flexible and comfortable working in a demanding environment.&nbsp;&nbsp;Our&nbsp;Investment&nbsp;&nbsp;We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our volunteers and provide accommodation and&nbsp;meals&nbsp;for all&nbsp;roles during the duration of&nbsp;their&nbsp;session.&nbsp;In addition, for all new volunteers there is a mandatory&nbsp;overnight&nbsp;training&nbsp;weekend session from June 6 – 7th&nbsp;2026&nbsp;at&nbsp;Loon Lake Retreat Centre, Maple Ridge. Transportation to and from Vancouver is provided. During&nbsp;training&nbsp;weekend, members of our staff&nbsp;and&nbsp;leadership team&nbsp;go through our camp schedules and&nbsp;provide you with all the tools necessary to set you up for success!&nbsp;Your Commitment&nbsp;&nbsp;Volunteers are expected&nbsp;to act with integrity,&nbsp;professionalism,&nbsp;and&nbsp;kindness&nbsp;during the duration of&nbsp;their&nbsp;session.&nbsp;They are&nbsp;expected to&nbsp;remain&nbsp;on-site during the&nbsp;entirety&nbsp;of&nbsp;their&nbsp;selected session(s).&nbsp;Volunteers may attend multiple&nbsp;sessions,&nbsp;but it&nbsp;is&nbsp;recommended&nbsp;to&nbsp;start with one if&nbsp;it’s&nbsp;your first time volunteering with us!
