Be part of something amazing!

A Unit Guider leads a group of girls and youth (ages 5-17). You'll run fun, empowering activities in your community from Fall to Spring. As a Unit Guider, you'll help girls grow in confidence and reach their potential.

What you’ll do:

You'll team up with other Guiders, sharing responsibilities and building on each other’s strengths. As a leadership team, you’ll embody the Guiding Law and model teamwork and cooperation for girls and youth.

Together, you will:

Build Relationships

  • Build relationships with girls and other Guiders
  • Engage girls to share ideas, make decisions and take on age-appropriate leadership
  • Engage with caregivers to answer questions and share updates
  • Welcome new girls and Guiders into the unit at any time during the year

Plan and lead activities

  • Plan inclusive indoor and outdoor meetings using the Girl Guides digital activity library
  • Pick-up and prepare supplies and materials for meetings
  • Lead meeting activities while fostering positive behaviour in an age-appropriate way
  • Plan special outings and activities (such as sleepovers)
  • Learn about and incorporate Guiding traditions (such as special ceremonies)

Support the unit’s administration

  • Track girls’ achievements to order and present badges
  • Complete and track required health and safety paperwork
  • Coordinate cookie sales by tracking inventory, selling cookies and ordering cookies if applicable to your provincial council
  • Track expenses and submit them to the Treasurer

Uphold Guiding values

  • Create a safe and welcoming space by following diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility policies
  • Support Girl Guides of Canada’s Mission and Vision
