
Girl Guides of Canada Unit Guider
Be part of something amazing!
A Unit Guider leads a group of girls and youth (ages 5-17). You'll run fun, empowering activities in your community from Fall to Spring. As a Unit Guider, you'll help girls grow in confidence and reach their potential.
What you’ll do:
You'll team up with other Guiders, sharing responsibilities and building on each other’s strengths. As a leadership team, you’ll embody the Guiding Law and model teamwork and cooperation for girls and youth.
Together, you will:
Build Relationships
- Build relationships with girls and other Guiders
- Engage girls to share ideas, make decisions and take on age-appropriate leadership
- Engage with caregivers to answer questions and share updates
- Welcome new girls and Guiders into the unit at any time during the year
Plan and lead activities
- Plan inclusive indoor and outdoor meetings using the Girl Guides digital activity library
- Pick-up and prepare supplies and materials for meetings
- Lead meeting activities while fostering positive behaviour in an age-appropriate way
- Plan special outings and activities (such as sleepovers)
- Learn about and incorporate Guiding traditions (such as special ceremonies)
Support the unit’s administration
- Track girls’ achievements to order and present badges
- Complete and track required health and safety paperwork
- Coordinate cookie sales by tracking inventory, selling cookies and ordering cookies if applicable to your provincial council
- Track expenses and submit them to the Treasurer

- Support Girl Guides of Canada’s Mission and Vision
- Follow and model the Girl Guides of Canada Code of Conduct
Volunteers commit to 1-2 hours per week for unit meetings plus additional hours, when required, for trips and events.
