Our Baby Gear Processing volunteers play a critical role in ensuring that all baby gear that we distribute to families meets our quality standards for cleanliness and safety. Volunteers will work in our warehouse and report to the resource staff lead, and be supported by the volunteer coordinator. If you care about sustainability, want to support local families, and if you enjoy the satisfaction of a transformation, this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! Impact of this role: Approximately 95% of baby gear that BabyGoRound distributes annually is gently used. Last year, 66,800 lbs of pre-loved baby gear was diverted from the landfill, thanks to our community of donors and volunteers. Our gear processing volunteers keep this circular system going round - checking, cleaning, and preparing critical baby gear to be passed on to the families who need it most. This circular approach of collecting and connecting pre-loved baby essentials is more than an exchange; it’s a cycle of care that benefits our planet and people. Key responsibilities and duties include:&nbsp;<ul>	<li>Assisting gear donors in unloading the donations from their vehicles and bringing them into the warehouse.</li>	<li>Cleaning baby gear, including but not limited to: strollers, pack and plays, bassinets, high chairs, and exersaucers. This is done using various tools onsite, including a vacuum cleaner, steam cleaner, laundry sink, and washing machine.</li>	<li>Checking baby gear equipment to ensure it meets current safety requirements: checking condition, functionality, proper assembly, and that all parts are in place.</li>	<li>Helping to keep the gear receiving and processing zones orderly.</li></ul> Desired skills and traits:&nbsp;<ul>	<li>Enjoys problem solving</li>	<li>Experienced and comfortable using your&nbsp;hands (assembling items, cleaning)</li>	<li>Has a strong attention to detail</li>	<li>Doesn’t mind getting a little dirty</li>	<li>Enjoys working independently and taking ownership of their responsibilities</li>	<li>Ability to lift 25 lbs independently, or 40 lbs with assistance</li></ul> Accessibility: BabyGoRound can be accessed at street level through both the front and back doors, though the back entrance is down a steep slanted driveway. Both floors are connected by one flight of stairs. Support:&nbsp;We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment! During your shift, staff will be available to assist you, answer questions, and provide guidance. You will have written guidelines to refer to regarding instructions for processing baby gear, important baby gear safety considerations, and a binder of recalled baby gear. Commitment and Availability:&nbsp;Our volunteer opportunities offer a lot of flexibility, allowing you to adjust your schedule week to week. We are looking for reliable volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 2, 2.25 hr shifts/month for 1 year. Volunteers should also have availability during our operating hours: Monday-Thursday between 9:45am-2:30pm. Additional Requirements: All onsite volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for work with children and vulnerable adults. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. The Dunbar Community Centre Association (DCCA) is seeking enthusiastic volunteer Directors interested in working with our Board of Directors and committees, such as Programming, Governance and Finance. Our&nbsp;Board is comprised of community members who are dedicated to enhancing and improving the quality of life in the Dunbar community, continuing a long tradition of volunteering to help our neighbours. &nbsp;To do this, the Board works with Vancouver Park Board staff to provide programs and education that focus on health, wellness, arts, culture, and recreation as well as entertainment and special events. The Board is committed to ensuring that the Dunbar Community Centre is a welcoming, safe environment for everyone, that promotes community connection, engagement, and volunteerism.&nbsp;The Dunbar Community Centre Association is a non-profit society and registered charity, whose vision is to represent and advocate for the recreational, social, and educational interests of our community. They also serve as ambassadors for Pacifica, both within the organization and in the&nbsp;broader community.&nbsp;General Responsibilities<ul><li>Define and Uphold the Mission: Contribute to creating and reviewing the organization's mission&nbsp; and purpose to ensure alignment with Pacifica’s goals and the communities served.</li><li>Hire and Support Leadership: Participate in selecting, supporting, and evaluating the chief&nbsp; executive to ensure they have the resources and guidance to lead effectively.</li><li>Engage in Strategic Planning: Actively contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of Pacifica’s strategic plan.</li><li>Evaluate Programs: Assess programs to ensure they align with the mission and contribute to Pacifica’s effectiveness.</li><li>Fundraising and Resource Development: Help secure adequate financial resources by contributing personally or supporting fundraising efforts.</li><li>Financial Oversight: Assist in budgeting and maintaining financial controls to protect the organization’s assets.</li><li>Build and Maintain a Strong Board: Identify and recruit qualified board candidates, mentor new members, and periodically evaluate the Board’s performance.</li><li>Ensure Integrity and Compliance: Uphold legal standards and ethical practices in all aspects of the organization’s operations.</li><li>Promote Pacifica Publicly: Advocate for Pacifica by articulating its mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and fostering community support.</li><li>Commit to Professional Growth: Participate in one to two professional development trainings annually, either through Pacifica or other organizations.&nbsp;</li><li>Participate in Committees and Projects: Serve on at least one committee, attend meetings, and complete assignments thoroughly and on time.</li></ul>Board Terms &amp; ParticipationThe Board of Directors is governed by the organizational bylaws and the Terms of Reference. The term of&nbsp;office of Directors will normally be three (3) years. Pacifica Board members serve three-year terms and&nbsp;may be elected for up to nine (9) consecutive years, by any combination of terms. Board meetings are&nbsp;held regularly throughout the year. Committee meetings follow a set schedule and are held as required&nbsp;with dates communicated in advance.
