BabyGoRound's program benefits low income families by providing access to essential baby gear and clothing, free of charge. We receive donations of second-hand clothing and baby gear from the public, which is processed and prepared by our volunteers. Our clothing sorting volunteers play a key role in ensuring that our inventory of baby clothing is organized, well stocked, and meets our quality standards.
Impact of this role:
Last year, BabyGoRound's program supported 1761 families with access to essential baby gear and clothing, positively impacting 5,750+ family members.

Approximately 95% of baby gear that BabyGoRound distributes annually is gently used. Last year, 66,800 lbs of pre-loved baby gear was diverted from the landfill, thanks to our community of donors and volunteers. Our gear processing and clothing sorting volunteers keep this circular system going round - checking, cleaning, and preparing critical baby gear to be passed on to the families who need it most. This circular approach of collecting and connecting pre-loved baby essentials is more than an exchange; it’s a cycle of care that benefits our planet and people.

Key responsibilities and duties include:
<ul><li>Inspecting clothing donations to ensure they are clean and in good condition
</li><li>Sorting clothing and accessories by style and size (e.g., sleeper, top, bottom, jacket / 0-3mo, 3-6mo, 6-12mo etc.)
</li><li>Keeping inventory well labeled and organized
</li><li>Putting laundry in the washer/dryer

During your shift, staff will be available to assist you, answer questions, and provide guidance. You will have written guidelines to refer to regarding instructions for processing baby gear, important baby gear safety considerations, and a binder of recalled baby gear. Commitment and Availability:&nbsp;Our volunteer opportunities offer a lot of flexibility, allowing you to adjust your schedule week to week. We are looking for reliable volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 2, 2.25 hr shifts/month for 1 year. Volunteers should also have availability during our operating hours: Monday-Thursday between 9:45am-2:30pm. Additional Requirements: All onsite volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for work with children and vulnerable adults. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. Our Math Mentors are<ul><li>Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Available to meet once weekly during weekday afternoons between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for 90-minutes for in-person sessions, or 60 minutes for virtual sessions.</li></ul>Our Mentoring with Math volunteers are asked to enroll in two 8-10 week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program. Our Big Brothers Community Program pairs you with a Little Buddy based on personality and shared interests to build a supportive one-to-one relationship based on trust, connection, and fun! Our matches spend two or more hours once per week doing free or low-cost activities they enjoy most and are paired for a minimum of one year. Our Big Brothers are<ul><li>Male, trans, and gender diverse individuals who are 18+.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Able to meet once weekly for 2 or more hours with a Mentee on weekends or afterschool hours.</li></ul>Our Little Brothers are<ul><li>Boys, trans, and gender-diverse children and youth ages 7 to 14.</li><li>Those who would benefit from having a positive role model in their life.</li></ul>NOW IS THE TIME TO VOLUNTEER! SummaryParticipate in and run community-based crime prevention and safety programs such as patrols, garbage clean-up, community outreach events, Speed/Cell watch, information and referral services.Description &nbsp;What you’ll be doing﻿As a volunteer, you’ll support and lead a range of programs designed to promote safety in our neighbourhood: &nbsp;Foot and Bike Patrols: Walk or cycle through the community, engaging with residents, checking in on areas of concern, offering aid such as water, snacks, or socks to those in need, picking up discarded needles or debris, and helping create a welcoming public space.Community Cleanups: Help keep Mount Pleasant clean and welcoming through regular garbage and litter removal initiatives.Information &amp; Referrals: Provide support and guidance to residents and visitors seeking local resources or services.Community Outreach: Represent the MPCPC at public events, fairs, and educational workshops.Volunteer Patrols: Our trained volunteers walk or bike the neighbourhood to observe and report safety concerns, while carrying supplies like water, snacks, and socks to offer to those in needRoad Safety &amp; Crime Prevention Initiatives: Participate in pedestrian and road safety campaigns, including speed watch and cell watch programs.Why Volunteer With Us?The MPCPC is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization.By volunteering with us, you’ll gain valuable, hands-on experience in community safety and social services. You’ll also receive training from MPCPC staff and partner organizations such as the Vancouver Police Department and ICBC. You should be comfortable talking to people from diverse backgrounds and be team-oriented, respectful, and community-focused. &nbsp;You don’t need previous experience—we provide all training.
