Unpaid Volunteer Position

Position Available: Board Member

Orchestra Toronto, a vibrant hybrid-community orchestra dedicated to musical excellence, is seeking an enthusiastic and well-connected individual to join our Board of Directors. Our highly professional and diverse board brings together leaders from a wide range of industries, offering an exceptional opportunity to build meaningful relationships while helping shape the future of one of Toronto’s leading orchestras.

As a volunteer Board Member, you will play an important role in the governance, strategic direction, and long-term sustainability of Orchestra Toronto. We are particularly seeking candidates with strong fundraising experience and an established network of philanthropic, corporate, or community connections who are excited to help introduce new supporters and strengthen the organization’s financial sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight and contribute to the governance and growth of Orchestra Toronto.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization within the community and help expand awareness of Orchestra Toronto’s mission and impact.
  • Serve as an active member of the Fundraising Committee, working collaboratively with the Fundraising Chair, Executive Director, and fellow committee members to develop and execute fundraising strategies.
  • Leverage your personal and professional network to identify and introduce prospective donors, sponsors, corporate partners, and community supporters.
  • Support donor cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising initiatives through relationship-building, outreach, and strategic introductions.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to advance organizational priorities and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings and participate in Board discussions and initiatives.
  • Support Orchestra Toronto concerts, events, and community engagement activities when possible.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for the arts and a commitment to Orchestra Toronto’s mission.
  • An established network of contacts within the Greater Toronto Area and beyond, with the ability and willingness to connect the organization with prospective donors, sponsors, and partners.
  • Experience in fundraising, philanthropy, business development, corporate relations, community leadership, or relationship management is considered a strong asset.
  • Comfort engaging in donor conversations, making introductions, and supporting fundraising initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker and a collaborative approach to leadership.
  • Previous board or committee experience is an asset but not required.

Board Meetings are held once per month and are generally one hour in length via Zoom.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and a brief cover letter outlining their relevant experience and interest in joining the Board of Directors to executive.director@orchestratoronto.ca.

Join us in helping Orchestra Toronto continue to inspire audiences, nurture musicians, and strengthen our community through the power of live orchestral music. We look forward to welcoming a passionate and engaged Board Member to our team.
