Family Housing – provides a low barrier, safe space housing for individuals who are experiencing 
deep poverty, chronic homelessness and often the long-term effects of trauma. At Family housing, 
tenants get support and referrals to ensure they are supported to maintain their housing. The 
program serves a diverse group of tenants, including single adults as well as families, youth and 
children who may be facing varying degrees of mental health, who may be fleeing domestic violence 
or who may be actively using substances, experience addiction, and/or social isolation and who 
come from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds.

What You Will Do: 

Daily Operations 
 • Manage the day-to-day housing operations for the Family Housing buildings at Fred Victor. 



• Ensure all tenants have the necessary support to maintain their housing. 
 • Liaise with partners and service providers to secure additional tenant support as required. 
 • Coordinate with Property Services to ensure building upkeep and maintenance. 
 • Collaborate with Housing Administration on all matters related to Rent and Rent Geared to 

Income (RGI). 
Tenant Engagement &amp; Community Development 
 • Encourage tenant participation in developing short- and long-term community strategies. 
 • Use a facilitative management approach to empower tenants. 
 • Support tenants to advocate for themselves and take responsibility for their lives. 
 • Foster a safe and enjoyable housing environment. 
 • Plan and deliver community development activities such as: Community Potlucks, Holiday 

Dinners, Recreational afternoons, Community Coffee Hours. 
 
What You Bring to the Team: 

• Degree or Diploma in social services and/or 2-3 years of proven experience, ability and skills 
working in not-for-profit housing. 

• Strong understanding of systems that cause homelessness, poverty and discrimination, and 
respect for those realities. 

• Demonstrated respect for, and expertise working with people who are or have been homeless, 
living in poverty, experiencing varying degrees of mental health, substance use, trauma, social 
isolation, immigration, unemployment and/or with a history with the criminal justice system. 

• Strong understanding that people living on low income are a resource to resolve community 
issues. 

• Strong understanding and commitment to social justice issues and anti-oppression practices. 
 • Strong understanding of and experience in community development practices. 
 • Well-developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills and crisis management skills. 
 • Well-developed interpersonal skills that will produce effective, productive, and appropriate 

relationships with the tenant community, external agencies and staff of Fred Victor. 
 • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits 



• For the Family Housing Worker, Fred Victor offers an hourly rate of $29.40

General Office Volunteer - High Intensity (remote) Organization: Right to Live Canada Right to Live Canada | 30+ hrs/week | Volunteer Position------ The Mission Canada is currently facing a human rights crisis of international consequence: poverty-driven disability euthanasia (MAiD). Individuals, blocked by state-enforced poverty, are choosing to end their lives with state assistance due to being unable to access essentials such as medical procedures, supportive housing, or even food. This systemic failure has triggered a United Nations investigation, criticism from the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and global condemnation.Right to Live Canada is engineering the only viable, system-level alternative to this crisis -- Social Brokerage. By creating a pipeline between sources of raw capital and specific one-time support plans ("Stability Mandates") for individuals in the process of applying for MAiD, the organization creates the "viable alternative" that the system itself mandates its assessors to find but does not currently provide. This represents the world's first market-based solution to poverty-driven euthanasia and the creation of a social impact credit system which exchanges philanthropic capital for verified, life-affirming outcomes, akin to carbon credits.Right to Live Canada is currently pre-pilot.------ The Opportunity Right to Live Canada is a start-up non-profit solving economic euthanasia. We are in need of high intensity, committed volunteers who are ready and willing to put in the hard work to &nbsp;advance our work. This means a volunteer load of 30+ hours per week, for a duration up to the volunteer. The only common skill requirement is the ability to work in a remote office environment (Slack, Google Workspace). Facilitate access to support by providing information and referrals based on individual needs to support/reinforce strengths.4.&nbsp;Identify key service referral contacts and initiate /establish communication and referral protocols with organizations and agencies5.&nbsp;Facilitate the timely exchange of information between schools and societies, including utilizing and providing input as part of the monitoring and evaluation of local Joint Protocols for Student Achievement (JPSA) where they exist&nbsp;6.&nbsp;Leverage existing resources in the education systems through referrals and collaboration (e.g., Aboriginal Education Leads, and Student Success Leads); engagement with First Nations, Inuit and urban Indigenous communities and organizations7.&nbsp;Strengthen relationships among First Nation school authorities, societies and community partners8.&nbsp;Provide eligible children and youth with services and resources as appropriate9.&nbsp;Facilitate information sessions for children, youth, and families pertaining to academic success and resources.&nbsp;10.&nbsp;Build system capacity among society and educational staff on how to better meet educational needs.&nbsp;11.&nbsp;Regular interval report on outcome statistics based on identified criteria.12. Establish program planning, documentation and reporting systems/protocols.13.&nbsp;Develop administrative systems and establish evaluation tools for data collection asprescribed and other (i.e. number of First Nation school authorities).14.&nbsp;Foster communication and linkages with community agencies/organizations to improve access and mitigate barriers to educational services and supports.15.&nbsp;Other related duties and responsibilities as required.Minimum Qualifications and Skills:Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in education or a field related to working with children, youth, families, communities and First Nations, or a combination of education and experience.</li><li> Ontario Teaching Certificate with knowledge of the Educational Act and Special Education Services </li><li>Previous experience in the education sector. </li><li>Knowledge and linkages with the education sector to help resolve issues that may impact student learning. </li><li>Pass a vulnerable Sector police record check. </li><li>Literate in Aboriginal culture(s) and understanding of key cultural values.
