This individual will need to be able to travel around Ontario, meet with municipal council members and staff, with local residents and concerned citizens, delegate at council meetings and speak at community events, informing interested parties about the benefits that communities can derive from welcoming renewable energy development (wind, solar and battery storage) in their jurisdictions.&nbsp;The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) recently finalized its RFP for the Long Term 2 procurement, in which it is seeking bids for energy and capacity resources. Energy Resources provide electricity generation to the grid and could be wind or solar, or they could also be gas plants. Capacity resources are available to provide capacity to the grid when called upon and could be gas plants or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). All projects require a resolution of support from the local municipal council to proceed. Proposals for the Energy stream need to be submitted by October 16, 2025. Proposals for the Capacity stream need to be submitted by December 18th, 2025.&nbsp;Many municipalities are discussing whether they will grant a motion of support for wind, solar and BESS projects. They are also debating whether to support new gas plant proposals. Environmental Defence is seeking to help support environmentally sound clean energy projects and encourage municipal councils to vote to support those projects. The Union Coordinator is generally responsible for supporting the work of the Executive Board; organizing general membership meetings; coordinating with the University of Ottawa’s labour relations; and working to improve the working conditions of union members.Tasks and responsibilities:&nbsp;<ul><li>Assists the president or their representative in internal and external working relations as needed;</li><li>Assists in the preparation of Union and member meetings at the request of the Executive Board;</li><li>Liaises with CUPE and all other organizations regarding labour relations;</li><li>Coordinates Labour relations with the University of Ottawa and coordinates the Labour Management Committees;</li><li>Prepares pre-negotiation documents that includes suggested Articles of the collective agreements to be amended;</li><li>Coordinates the negotiation process for all units of CUPE 2626 under the supervision of the President of each Bargaining Committee;</li><li>Supports the administrative work of the President of each Bargaining Committee;</li><li>Conducts research related to collective bargaining, labour movement, and any other topics requested by the President;</li><li>Coordinates the organization of general assemblies under the supervision of the Executive Board;</li><li>Prepares internal and external documents like monthly reports, General Assemblies kits;</li><li>With the Chairs of Bargaining Committees, coordinates the organization of ratification and strike votes, including but not limited to organizing membership meetings and information sessions (when applicable), as well as preparing the necessary documents for the votes;</li><li>Coordinates the organization of the orientation sessions under the supervision of the Executive Board;</li><li>Assists with the translation of documents as needed;</li><li>With the Stewards Representatives, manages internal and external lists of stewards and develops steward recruitment strategies.</li></ul>------Le Syndicat canadien de la fonction publique (SCFP), section 2626, représente les assistant·e·s d’enseignement et de recherche, correctrices et correcteurs, tutrices et tuteurs, moniteurs et monitrices de laboratoire, sauveteuses et sauveteurs, et travailleuses et travailleurs de la vie en résidence de l’Université d’Ottawa.
