Volunteer – Digital Marketing, Outreach & Events (Recovery Without Borders)
Recovery Without Borders (RWOB) is a peer-led, data-informed recovery initiative building a global ecosystem of support: online forums, peer support groups, city events, professional webinars, entrepreneurship pathways, and housing‑focused initiatives. We’re looking for volunteers who want to help us grow our impact through digital marketing, outreach, and events. You do not need to be an expert or cover all areas — interest, reliability, and willingness to learn are what matter most. Multiple volunteers may share responsibilities based on skills and capacity.
What you might work on (we’ll shape this around you)
Digital marketing
- Supporting social media content (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) — drafting posts, scheduling, basic engagement (likes, comments, DMs).
- Helping update website copy or listings for events and peer support groups.
- Assisting with email newsletter drafting and simple list management.
Outreach & partnerships
- Helping identify and reach out to community partners (recovery organizations, faith communities, schools, housing/work programs).
- Supporting follow‑up with interested professionals, speakers, or sponsors.
Event planning & coordination
- Assisting with planning online and in‑person events (forums, webinars, community gatherings).
- Helping with logistics: registrations, reminders, check‑ins, basic tech support on Zoom.
- Collecting simple feedback after events and helping track attendance or basic metrics.
Who this is for
- Students, early‑career professionals, or people in recovery/family members who want experience in digital marketing, events, or community work.
- People with 2–5 hours per week who are reliable, communicative, and comfortable working virtually.
- You might have experience in one area (e.g., social media, admin, events) and want to stretch into others — that’s welcome.
What you’ll gain
- Real‑world experience in digital marketing, outreach, and event coordination in the nonprofit/recovery space.
- A chance to help shape an emerging organization focused on long‑term recovery, work, and housing outcomes.
- References, portfolio material (e.g., campaigns or events you helped with), and exposure to a wide professional network in the recovery and mental health ecosystem.
Commitment & location
- Time: Approx. 2–5 hours per week, flexible, with some evening availability for events.
- Location: Remote/virtual (Canada-based is helpful but not required; RWOB is global).
No one will be expected to do everything listed above — we will tailor the role to your interests and strengths, and may bring on several volunteers to focus on different pieces (e.g., one on social media, one on outreach, one on events).
How to apply
Please apply through CharityVillage and include:
- A short note about why this role interests you and which area(s) you’re most drawn to (digital marketing, outreach, events, or “open to learning”).
- Any relevant experience (paid, volunteer, lived experience, or school projects) — brief is fine.
Shortlisted volunteers will be invited to a brief Zoom conversation to explore fit and clarify which responsibilities feel right.
