Unpaid Volunteer Position

Join our team as a Regional Speech Contest Volunteer and help create an exciting, supportive, and professional experience for young speakers and their families. As a volunteer, you will assist with event setup, participant registration, guest support, stage coordination, and event operations while helping contestants feel welcomed and confident.

What you will do:

- Assist with setting up registration tables, seating areas, signage, and event materials

- Welcome contestants, families, judges, sponsors, and guests upon arrival

- Support participant check-in and guide contestants to designated waiting or preparation areas

- Help manage audience seating, directions, and general event inquiries

- Assist backstage with contestant coordination, timing, certificates, awards, and stage transitions

- Support photography, promotional activities, and the distribution of event materials

- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to maintain an organized schedule and ensure the contest runs smoothly

What you will gain:

Who We’re Looking For:
- Age between 12–30
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable speaking in front of small groups
- Patient, respectful, and supportive when working with seniors
- Ability to guide discussions and encourage participation
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail in preparing slides and handouts
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Ability to adapt communication style to different learning needs
- Commitment to completing basic training
- Fluency in English
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check (required if over 18)
