Board Director (volunteer)
The First Alberta Campus Radio Association (FACRA), the volunteer Board of Directors that governs CJSR 88.5 FM, is looking for new directors to help guide one of Edmonton's longest-running independent community media organizations. If you believe in the value of community broadcasting, independent journalism, local music, and accessible media, serving on the Board is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution while applying your professional skills in support of an organization with nearly 40 years of community impact.
Why join the board?
FACRA's board provides strategic direction, governance and financial oversight for CJSR. Directors help ensure the organization remains sustainable, accountable, and responsive to the communities it serves.
We're particularly hoping to welcome candidates with experience in:
- Human Resources
- Finance or Accounting
- Law
- Governance and Board Development
- Organizational Leadership
- Risk Management
You don't need community radio experience to be an effective director. We value people who enjoy collaborative decision-making and helping mission-driven organizations succeed.
As a volunteer board member, you'll work alongside fellow directors to:
- Provide strategic oversight and long-term planning
- Support sound governance and organizational accountability
- Oversee financial stewardship
- Help ensure CJSR remains a vibrant, independent voice in Edmonton's media landscape
Whether you're a listener, volunteer, FACRA member, University of Alberta community member, or simply someone who wants to contribute your expertise to an important local organization, we encourage you to nominate yourself. Visit https://www.cjsr.com/cjsr-board-of-directors/ for more information.
Nominations close Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
