Personal Support Worker (PSW) Student Placement&nbsp;Position Title: Personal Support Worker (PSW) Student Placement &nbsp;&nbsp;Volunteer Type: In Person&nbsp;Location: 3333 Finch Ave East&nbsp;Volunteer Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m&nbsp;Volunteers Needed: 3 to 4&nbsp;Reports to: Living Well Manager &amp; Day Program Team Leads&nbsp;Start date: January 05, 2026&nbsp;Position Summary&nbsp;The PSW student will assist in providing support to seniors in a community-based Adult Day Program. Duties include helping with program activities, offering personal care assistance, monitoring clients’ well-being, and supporting the safe and inclusive delivery of programs.&nbsp;Responsibilities&nbsp;<ul><li>Assist clients during mealtimes, including light preparation, serving lunch, and monitoring for safety&nbsp;</li><li>Provide personal care support, including toileting&nbsp;</li><li>Assist with safe transferring and positioning of clients&nbsp;</li><li>Escort and support clients using mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, or canes&nbsp;</li><li>Help with the implementation of daily programs, including games, recreational activities, crafts, and chair exercises&nbsp;</li><li>Foster a welcoming and engaging environment for clients&nbsp;</li><li>Adhere to the organization’s safety policies and procedures, including compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and internal policies on Patient &amp; Client Safety and Health and Safety&nbsp;</li></ul>Skills &amp; Qualifications&nbsp;<ul><li>To be eligible for a student placement, you must be enrolled in an approved Personal Support Worker (PSW) program and be in good academic standing.&nbsp;</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills&nbsp;</li><li>Effective verbal and written communication&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to exercise good professional judgment&nbsp;</li><li>Compassion, patience, and respect for seniors and diverse needs&nbsp;</li><li>Willingness to learn and adapt to changing client needs&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team&nbsp;</li></ul>   &nbsp;Working Environment&nbsp;<ul><li>Sitting in front of the computer terminal for long periods of time&nbsp;</li><li>May have frequent work interruptions&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Extended hours up to 4:00 p.m. may be available if required for placement completion&nbsp;</li></ul>Orientation &amp; Training&nbsp;<ul><li>Volunteer Services will provide an orientation covering organizational policies and procedures, including COVID-19 safety measures.&nbsp;</li><li>Completion of IPAC Mandatory Training is required for all onsite positions.&nbsp;</li><li>Organizational training will be provided for all new volunteers.&nbsp;</li><li>Position-specific training and orientation will be conducted by the direct supervisor. &nbsp;</li></ul>Supervision &amp; Evaluation&nbsp;<ul><li>Supervision and support will be provided by the Living Well Manager and Day Program Team Leads.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Please note, supervision is not conducted by a Registered Nurse (RN).&nbsp;</li></ul>Other Requirements&nbsp;<ul><li>Vulnerable Service Sector Check screening is mandatory.&nbsp;</li><li>Proof of full vaccination or Medical Exemption Certificate is mandatory.&nbsp;</li><li>Must be 18 years or older.&nbsp;</li><li>The placement does not include:&nbsp;<ul><li>Administration or reminding of medications&nbsp;</li><li>Bathing or showering assistance&nbsp;</li><li>Hair or nail care services&nbsp;</li></ul></li></ul>Senior Persons Living Connected is a diverse work environment.  We encourage applications from all persons, including persons with disabilities. Our purpose is to Celebrate Inclusion, Ability &amp; the Joy of Singing 🎶We’re seeking volunteers to join our choir and support members that may need extra help during rehearsals and performances (this may look like helping to find the right page and follow the music, staying focused and following the community agreements, preparing for performances, etc.).
