We currently have an opening for Christian Greek-speaking volunteers to help with Spiritual programs for our residents. Are you fluent in Greek and eager to make a difference in your community? Shepherd Village is looking for compassionate volunteers to support seniors through engaging cultural programs. Your language skills and cultural knowledge can bring comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging to those who need it most.

Volunteer Opportunity: Christian Greek-Speaking Volunteer for Spiritual and Palliative Chaplaincy Care Visits

Position Description:

1. Volunteers will meet with residents and provide support through prayer, scripture reading, encouragement and life review.

2. Volunteers should be skilled in empathy, active listening and cultural sensitivity. Volunteers should be comfortable with Christian prayer and occasionally talking to family members.

3. Volunteers will meet with the Lodge Chaplain for job training and shadowing, as well as be included in quarterly training sessions in spiritual and palliative care. Volunteers in this role can expect to find deep fulfilment and satisfaction in being a compassionate presence in the life of a senior.

Requirements:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in Greek
- Compassionate and reliable nature
- Familiarity with Christianity and Christian prayers
- No prior experience needed—just a kind heart and willingness to help!

Schedule:

Flexible scheduling, about 1 hour per week
