The Opportunity

Hotels Canada is looking for a strategic, relationship-focused leader to drive member value, organizational growth, and revenue generation.

This role oversees many of the organization's key revenue-generating activities, including membership, sponsorships, partnerships, events, and member programs, and plays a critical role in achieving both organizational and financial objectives.

You are equally comfortable building relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and managing the financial performance of a diverse portfolio. You understand how to translate member needs, industry insights, and strategic priorities into programs, partnerships, and initiatives that deliver measurable results. You are collaborative, solutions-oriented, and energized by creating opportunities that strengthen member engagement, organizational impact, and long-term sustainability.

Working closely with the President & CEO and leadership team, you will help shape the future direction of Hotels Canada by growing engagement, expanding revenue opportunities, and ensuring the Association continues to deliver meaningful value to Canada's hotel industry.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver strong financial performance across membership, sponsorship, partnership, event, and program portfolios.
  • Grow and strengthen Hotels Canada's membership base through exceptional engagement, retention, and recruitment strategies.
  • Expand revenue opportunities through memberships, sponsorships, partnerships, events, and value-added programs.
  • Deliver a successful and financially sustainable events portfolio, including the Association's annual conference.
  • Strengthen relationships with members, partners, sponsors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Ensure member needs and insights inform organizational priorities, programs, and initiatives.
  • Lead a high-performing team committed to service excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Growth & Engagement

  • Lead the Association's membership strategy, driving recruitment, retention, engagement, and long-term member value.
  • Ensure a consistent, high-quality member experience across onboarding, renewals, communications, and engagement activities.
  • Work closely with the communications team to ensure member communications, campaigns, and engagement initiatives are aligned with organizational priorities and effectively support member growth, retention, and satisfaction.
  • Leverage data, member feedback, and industry insights to identify opportunities to strengthen member satisfaction, participation, and retention.
  • Oversee membership performance, CRM discipline, reporting, and engagement metrics.

Events, Programs & Member Experiences

  • Provide hands-on leadership and oversight for Hotels Canada's events, programs, and member engagement initiatives, including the annual 2-day conference, webinars, regional events, and other member-facing offerings.
  • Work closely with staff, consultants, sponsors, partners, and service providers to ensure initiatives are well planned, effectively executed, and financially sustainable.
  • Establish objectives, budgets, and performance measures for programs and events, ensuring they deliver value for members and support organizational goals.
  • Monitor participation, member feedback, and performance metrics to continuously improve offerings, increase engagement, and identify new opportunities for growth.

Revenue Growth & Business Development

  • Lead strategies to grow and diversify engagement-related revenue, including membership, sponsorship, partnerships, events, and fee-based programs.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities that strengthen Hotels Canada's value proposition and support long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor engagement-related budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, industry partners, sponsors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work across the organization to ensure commitments to members and partners are effectively delivered and opportunities for collaboration are maximized.
  • Ensure revenue targets and business objectives are supported through disciplined planning, measurement, and continuous improvement.

Leadership & Organizational Impact

  • Lead and mentor engagement-focused staff, fostering accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and a member-centric culture.
  • Work closely with the President & CEO and leadership team to align engagement strategies with organizational priorities and strategic goals.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to leadership and, as required, the Board of Directors.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and service excellence across all engagement activities.

Who You Are

You are someone who:

  • Builds strong relationships and earns trust quickly.
  • Understands how to turn engagement into long-term value, growth, and revenue.
  • Thinks strategically while remaining practical and action-oriented.
  • Enjoys identifying opportunities and bringing ideas to life.
  • Uses data, insights, and sound judgment to inform decisions.
  • Has strong financial acumen and is comfortable developing, managing, and achieving budgets, revenue targets, and business objectives.
  • Understands how to balance member value, organizational impact, and financial sustainability when making decisions.
  • Is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, team-focused culture.
  • Can move seamlessly between big-picture planning and hands-on execution.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in membership, stakeholder engagement, business development, partnerships, events, or a related function.
  • Experience within a not-for-profit, association, or member-based organization is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in relationship management, member value creation, engagement strategy, and revenue generation.
  • Experience planning and leading conferences, events, sponsorship programs, and partnership initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and achieving budgets, revenue targets, and business performance objectives.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, membership databases, engagement analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate cross-functional work, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
