Unpaid Volunteer Position

Our Homework Helper volunteers work one to one to with a child or youth to provide academic support and motivation with, reading, writing, assignments, and homework. This can build confidence and a sense of future educational achievements. Our volunteer might also engage the child/youth in activities and community events. This role supports the child as well as provides respite to parents.

Description
We are seeking volunteers who can provide support as a homework helper for children/youth in Kitchener & Cambridge. Ideal volunteers will have some tutoring experience, but they should be patient, have good rapport with children/youth and be flexible.

They will assist child/youth with learning challenges including reading, writing, homework and studying. Provide a non-judgmental listening ear. Visit the child on a regular, consistent basis and on agreed upon dates and times. Build a positive relationship and be a positive role model. Maintain confidentiality and boundaries.
