Connected Minds: Neural and Machine Systems for a Healthy, Just Society (2023-2030) combines York’s existing science and technology research ecosystem, and longstanding institutional strengths in the social sciences, arts, and humanities with Queen’s University’s complementary strengths in neuroscience, health, and artificial intelligence, as well as a substantial consortium of multi-sector partners. Destination Development &amp; Marketing Committee: 

The Destination Development &amp; Marketing Committee guides BEDT’s tourism and 

destination strategies by: 


 • Providing oversight on the Destination Stewardship Plan implementation and 

Destination Brand 

 • Advising on strategic directions for the Tourism Investment Fund, event attraction 

strategy, and visitor services 

 • Supporting development of culinary, retail, and main street initiatives 

 • Promoting agri-tourism and aligning rural economic development with regional 

directions 

 • Strengthening sector business engagement and stakeholder collaboration 


The committee ensures tourism initiatives are integrated with broader economic 

development goals and the City’s strategic priorities.

Business Growth &amp; Renewal Committee: 

The Business Growth &amp; Renewal Committee is a strategic advisory body of the BEDT 

Board that focuses on driving Burlington’s economic development priorities. Its core 

mandate includes: 


 • Leading Business Retention &amp; Expansion (BR&amp;E) efforts 

 • Supporting sector strategy implementation and business engagement 

 • Informing Integrated Customer Experience initiatives with the City of Burlington to 

support cutting red tape and rolling out the red carpet for businesses 

 • Providing insight on strategic investment projects 

 • Serving as the primary forum for economic policy feedback and reporting on top 

employers, business risks, and expansion or relocation activity

(2) HUMAN RIGHTS REPRESENTATIVE (HRR) 


 
The Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC) provides a broad range of free legal assistance to individuals throughout 
Ontario who have experienced discrimination contrary to Ontario’s Human Rights Code. The HRLSC is seeking applications 
for two (2) Human Rights Representatives (HRR) to conduct pre-application and application stage interviews with the 
purpose of providing information, advice and assistance to individuals who want to file applications with the Human Rights 
Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO). Under the supervision and direction of the Manager- Early Intervention &amp; Mediation Services 
(EIMS), the HRRs will assist clients to provide a range of early intervention services, including interviews, preparing assertion 
of rights and/or demand letters, conducting negotiations with respondents, and/or preparing and filing HRTO applications. 
 
Qualifications include in-depth knowledge of human rights legislation in Ontario, including the Human Rights Code and related 
statutes (employment and housing). The successful applicant will have excellent overall knowledge of the legal system as it 
applies to adjudicative boards and tribunals, and the process for preparing and presenting cases before such boards and 
tribunals. As well as commitment to applying the principles of cultural competence, including recognition of the need to deliver 
services to the public in a manner that recognizes the unique needs of diverse communities. Computer skills including Microsoft 
Office Word, Outlook and experience using a case management or data base system are required. Certification by the Law 
Society of Ontario as a paralegal is an asset but not a requirement for this position. 
 
Full Job Description 
 
These are full-time, contract positions until March 2028, and are part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit. These positions offer a 
hybrid work schedule, requiring a combination of in-person work from the HRLSC’s Toronto head office and remote work from 
home, each week. This arrangement may be subject to change as part of the HRLSC’s Recovery Plan process. The HRLSC 
provides a competitive total compensation package. Salary range for these positions is $60,901 - $78,469. The usual hours of 
work are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
