(3) LEGAL SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE (LSR)

The Human Rights Legal Support Centre (HRLSC) provides a broad range of free legal assistance to individuals throughout Ontario who have experienced discrimination contrary to Ontario’s Human Rights Code. The HRLSC is seeking applications for three (3) Legal Services Representatives to support the HRLSC in promoting early resolution of discrimination claims by specializing in pre-application and application stage legal support services.

Qualifications include in-depth knowledge of human rights legislation in Ontario, including the Human Rights Code and related statutes (employment and housing). The successful applicant will have excellent overall knowledge of the legal system as it applies to adjudicative boards and tribunals, and the process for preparing and presenting cases before such boards and tribunals. As well as commitment to applying the principles of cultural competence, including recognition of the need to deliver services to the public in a manner that recognizes the unique needs of diverse communities. Computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Outlook and experience using a case management or data base system are required. Certification by the Law Society of Ontario as a paralegal is an asset but not a requirement for this position.

Full Job Description These are full-time, contract positions until March 2028, and are part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit. These positions offer a hybrid work schedule, requiring a combination of in-person work from the HRLSC’s Toronto head office and remote work from home, each week. This arrangement may be subject to change as part of the HRLSC’s Recovery Plan process. The HRLSC provides a competitive total compensation package. Salary range for this position is $65,586 - $96,037. The usual hours of work are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
