The Manager reports to the Director, Member Services with a functional reporting relationship to the Director, Public Affairs on responsibilities related to the Annual Meeting.&nbsp;The Annual Meeting planning and management includes critical paths timeline, site selection, contract negotiations, budgeting, catering co-ordination, entertainment, accommodations, translation services, scheduling, sourcing on-site and off-site services, volunteer co-ordination and support for members with special needs. Registration activities include database setup, receiving and processing registrations, on-site registration setup and execution.In collaboration with the Director, Member Services, the Manager provides strategic planning and program development to the education program, and management of education budget and staff.The Manager works with the Director, Member Services and Program Manager, Membership &amp; Events to develop membership strategies for growth, retention, young members and member engagement, and manage implementation of strategies and associated work.&nbsp;Employee benefits for the duration of the contract include employer paid premiums for Group Benefits (health, dental, life insurance, AD&amp;D), pension, an annual wellness benefit and a one-time hybrid allowance payment.&nbsp;What we’re looking for:<ul><li>A university degree in a related field (Business, Social Sciences) or an equivalent combination of related post-secondary education and extensive relevant experience may be considered.</li><li>More than 5 years of experience planning and managing large scale events required (for example, 400+ participants or on a national/ regional scale).</li><li>Experience developing and administering a project plan and successfully managing projects through to completion is required. Position Overview: 

Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Manager of Government Relations (SGR) provides 
coordination, development and execution of the CCA’s agenda for building advocacy

strong Public Affairs team, this includes developing, implementing and ensuring the 
ongoing delivery of effective government and insurance stakeholder relations programs 
that advance the CCA’s strategic objectives and build awareness and reputation within key

The SGR contributes to establishing and achieving strategic objectives and goals and 
works collaboratively with the CCA team on communication efforts and issues 
management internally and externally in support of policy and advocacy objectives. In

Key Responsibilities: 

Advocacy 40% 

 • Work closely with the Senior Manager of Policy to advance progressive healthcare policies 
and achieve the CCA’s advocacy objectives 

 • Develop our research and analysis capacity to ensure a strong understanding of the 
challenges and opportunities facing the profession 

 • Ensure analysis and learnings are integrated into advocacy initiatives and programs. 
 • Develop materials and presentations that advance the positive role chiropractors can play 

within extended health benefits and group insurance 
 • Develop government submissions to forward the agenda of the profession nationally 
 • Oversee and deliver strategic initiatives to help the profession reach its potential 
 • Lead and participate in advocacy efforts that bolster the chiropractic profession and are 

aligned with the CCA’s strategic objectives 
 • Lead initiatives that demonstrate positive impact of chiropractic and advocate for the 

enhanced funding of chiropractic with the insurance sector 
 • Participate in and coordinate key public affairs campaigns in conjunction with the CEO to 

reach broad audiences and forward the advocacy agenda of the profession. This includes 
engaging and supporting members through grassroots advocacy initiatives 

 • Organize and leads outreach to MPs, government officials, and other stakeholders, 
including drafting correspondence and securing meetings. 

 • Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with government officials and agencies. 
 
Government, Stakeholder and Media Relations 40% 

 • In collaboration with the Marketing Department, engage media outlets to promote key 
messaging that positively positions the profession 

 • Support the direction of the CEO in developing and managing all crisis and issues 
communications 

 • Be aware of the key issues that are being reported in the media that are affecting or have 
implications for the profession 

 • Provide support to provincial associations on issues related to insurance and government 
advocacy and support their efforts to advance the profession 

 • Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration opportunities and build effective working 
relationships with stakeholders within the health sector and government to position the 
profession as a major contributor to the health of Canadians 

 • In conjunction with the CEO, coordinate the development and implementation of 
communication efforts and issues management internally and externally in support of 
advocacy objectives 

 
 Planning and budgeting 20% 

 • Ensures the goals related to advocacy and public affairs are achieved in support of the 
CCA’s purpose &amp; strategic and financial objectives 

 • Assists in short- and long-term plans and budgets for public affairs and advocacy activities.

specific business of the CCA and leverage knowledge and expertise in the service of

Qualifications &amp; Relevant Skills 

 • A university degree in a related field (public policy, social sciences, public or business 
administration, or other related disciplines) is required, with a master’s degree preferred or 
post-graduate diploma / degree 

 • CAE Designation preferred 
 • 2+ years of experience in manager or supervisory position 
 • Min. 4 years of experience in government relations and advocacy 
 • Strong knowledge of best practices for membership associations and not-for-profits 
 • Demonstrated experience in developing, executing, and managing programs and initiatives 

across various teams 
 • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, advocacy and government relations 
 • Understanding of Canada’s political system(s) both federally and provincially, including 

legislative, executive and judicial branches 
 • Must be fully compliant to act as a lobbyist under the Federal Accountability Act 
 • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – writing, presenting 
 • Effective presentation skills with ability to engage diverse audience 
 • Superior leadership skills – inspire, coach, mentor, motivate 
 • Work effectively with stakeholders and partners 
 • French language competency is an asset 


Salary Hiring Range: $85,000 to 90,000

They thrive on building relationships with donors, meeting key performance indicators, and coordinating the steps involved in the processing of bequests and other planned gifts.This position is based in Ottawa and requires a minimum of one (1) day per week in the office.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is not an exhaustive list of the duties to be performed)Donor Relationship Management<ul>	<li>Under the direction of the Director FD, cultivate donor relationships and stewardship activities for over 200 existing confirmed legacy donors through various communication channels (phone, email, mail, face-to-face).</li>	<li>Complete personalized meaningful interactions with each donor by implementing well-organized engagement plans and bespoke touchpoints.</li>	<li>Organize special events with current and prospective legacy donors, encouraging donor stewardship through the Global Visionaries gift club.</li>	<li>Act as point of contact with major donors when FDO, Major Gifts is on short-term leave.</li></ul>Portfolio Growth<ul>	<li>Under the direction of the Director FD, develop and implement the planned giving strategy to promote growth of the portfolio and meet program goals and objectives.</li>	<li>Working closely with the Marketing and Direct Response team, coordinateand implement a comprehensive, integrated plan for marketing planned giving, including the design, production and content of all planned giving resources and materials.</li>	<li>Work with the FDO, Direct Response and direct mail vendors on coordination of mailed legacy products.</li>	<li>Work with the digital communications staff to ensure the website accurately reflects and promote the planned giving program and that e-giving is leveraged appropriately for planned giving.</li>	<li>Ensure planned giving messaging is woven into the fabric of Oxfam Canada’s communications.</li>	<li>Identify and pursue planned giving prospects through various marketing strategies.</li>	<li>Cultivate, and secure confirmation from legacy leads via, various communication methods (phone calls, letters, email, face-to-face and online meetings) in a timely manner.</li>	<li>Provide tax and estate planning information to prospective donors outlining the benefits of various planned/deferred giving options.</li>	<li>Organize and help conduct training and information sessions for prospective donors, professional financial and estate planners, staff and other related constituencies across Canada.</li>	<li>Maintain current knowledge about gift planning.</li>	<li>Keep abreast of tax laws and other regulations related to charitable giving.</li></ul>Estate Administration<ul>	<li>Coordinate the files for estates, gifts of securities, insurance and other planned/deferred gifts with the appropriate specialist(s).</li>	<li>Maintain estate files and correspondence during probate of wills, contact all estate executors, liaise with legal counsel, and report all legacy gifts income.</li>	<li>Maintain accurate record-keeping and reporting of existing and potential legacy gifts.</li>	<li>Establish and maintain positive relationships with estate advisors and allied professionals through events and one-on-one meetings.</li>	<li>Maintain database information and both hard and digital copy files related to planned giving donors and potential donors while ensuring the confidentiality of this information.</li></ul>Other<ul>	<li>Monitor and ensure the accuracy of program results.</li>	<li>Prepare regular update reports of program results and performance to the Director.</li>	<li>File expenses and invoices in a timely manner.</li>	<li>Contribute to annual planning and reporting discussions for the Philanthropy Unit.</li>	<li>Act as the first point of contact with Broker for all stock gifts for all gift types.</li></ul>Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE &amp; COMPETENCIES:<ul>	<li>University degree or post-secondary diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in estate 	or financial management.</li>	<li>Five (5) years of fundraising experience, with a minimum of three (3) years of proven experience in a planned giving role in a charitable or non-governmental organization.</li>	<li>CFRE and/or a background in the financial planning sector in an advisory capacity is a strong asset.</li>	<li>Knowledge, understanding and commitment to global justice, social change, women’s rights and gender equality.</li>	<li>Comprehensive knowledge of planned giving vehicles and demonstrated experience negotiating and securing planned gifts.</li>	<li>Demonstrated experience conducting meetings with donors or clients, and working directly with staff within and across departments using various communication methods including face-to-face, telephone and electronic platforms such as Zoom.</li>	<li>Possess superior customer service and public relations skills.</li>	<li>Excellent written and spoken skills in English required;
