Senior Librarian – Planet Watch Online Library

Volunteer • Remote

About Planet Watch

Planet Watch is a youth‑focused climate learning hub that makes climate knowledge clear, hopeful, and accessible. Our online library is the heart of that mission — a growing collection of stories, explainers, and resources that help young people understand the planet and feel empowered to act.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Librarian to guide the growth, structure, and quality of the Planet Watch Online Library. You’ll shape how climate stories are organized, how young people discover them, and how our volunteer team contributes to a welcoming, inspiring learning space.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the vision, direction and operations of the online library
  • Oversee content quality, clarity, and accessibility
  • Guide a small team of volunteer librarians and contributors
  • Ensure the library is easy to navigate and youth‑friendly

Research Coordination

  • Project Management: Coordinate the day-to-day operations of research studies,
  • Literature Reviews: Conduct in-depth database searches, critically appraise published scientific literature, and synthesize data for reports, grants, and proposals.

Library & Information Services

  • Collection Management: Recommend acquisitions, classify, and catalogue library materials (books, periodicals, and digital media).
  • Develop Search techniques and guides to maximize the accessibility of digital library collections.
  • Conduct library orientations, information literacy training, and specialized workshops

What You Bring

  • Strong organizational and big‑picture thinking
  • Experience with content, education, or knowledge organization
  • Passion for climate education and youth engagement

Candidate Requirements

  • This position is only open to residents of Canada
  • A good command of the English language is required
