WHERE YOU COME IN 
We are looking for a Senior Manager, National Corporate Development to join our team at 
Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Director, National Corporate Development, the Senior 
Manager is responsible for securing national corporate commitments to support the mission, with 
an annual revenue target of $1,000,000. The role focuses on new business development, 
corporate gifts, sponsorships, events, in-kind contributions, and cause marketing, while also 
supporting chapter offices in expanding regional partnerships into national opportunities. 

This role can be based out of Toronto or Pickering and is a full-time, 18-month contract, hybrid 
position. 


 
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO 

 • Play an integral role in planning and implementing an impactful, growth-oriented corporate 
fundraising portfolio. 

 • Strategically manage and generate a national corporate pipeline of $1,000,000 of existing 
and new business acquisition through opportunities that can include cause marketing, 
sponsorship, employee engagement, in-kind donations, and corporate philanthropy. 

 • Identify leads, cultivate, close and steward five to six figure corporate gifts. 
 • Collaborate and genuinely build relationships with team members and other regional and 

national departments. 
 • Develop and write compelling funding proposals that are well-designed and meet brand 

guidelines. 
 • Work innovatively to design corporate partner activations that support a partner’s ability to 

communicate the importance of their partnership with Make-A-Wish Canada. 
 • Lead, create and present pitches and proposals to corporate partners. 
 • Possess strong ambassadorial qualities. 
 • Act as a representative for the Foundation within the corporate community and beyond. 
 • Utilize strong administrative and computer skills to complete all administrative and data 

management tasks associated with fundraising on a timely basis. This includes using 
Salesforce to input and track donor activities. 

 • Other duties as assigned. 
 
WHAT YOU BRING 

 • Post-secondary education, preferably in a Marketing or a Business Program, or an 
equivalent combination of training, education and experience. 

 • 5-7 years of related experience, ideally in the corporate philanthropy sector or 
sales/marketing field. 

 • Possess a hunter mentality with a proven track record in prospecting, cultivating, engaging 
and retaining corporate partners. 

 • Solid track record of working with national corporate partners in securing gifts of 
$50,000-$100,000+. 

 • Demonstrated experience in managing a prospect pipeline while implementing strategies 
to reach and surpass revenue goals. 

 • Strong verbal and written communication skills for proposal writing, developing and 
delivering presentations, and for managing daily interactions with team members and 
partners. 

 • Exhibit a strong degree of initiative, problem solving and decision-making skills. 
 • Competency in the ability to manage through ambiguity and changing priorities. 
 • Creative: ability to conceptualize new ideas and see a bigger picture or opportunities to 

increase support. 
 • Maintain outstanding time management skills and the ability to prioritize. 
 • Experience with CRM (ideally Salesforce) is a strong asset. 
 • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required. 

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT 
 • Hybrid work environment (2 days in-office, 3 days remote per week). Primary 

accountabilities are carried out in the National Office and at home; however, you may be 


 
required to occasionally work outside normal office hours to attend corporate events 
representing the Foundation. 

 • Occasional day/overnight travel. 
 
Physical/Mental Effort 
 • Work under pressure of tight deadlines, with a high-volume workload, and with multiple 

demands &amp; changing priorities. 
 • Emotional resiliency to be able to conduct cold-calls and continue to develop donor relations.

About the Role 
The Partnership Manager, Partnerships &amp; Philanthropy is responsible for leading and 
supporting both outbound fundraising efforts and managing accounts of leading brands. 
Your role will include ongoing prospecting and stewardship, maintaining an active 
pipeline of $1-1.5M in qualified net new business and returning partners on an ongoing 
basis.

This portfolio is expected to lead and contribute to a team that raises over $10M 
annually from the corporate sector, private foundations and individuals. 
 
The Partnership Manager works closely with the entire Partnerships &amp; Philanthropy 
team as well as various departments of BGC Canada, and other key stakeholders such 
as senior volunteers and board members. You are a frontline fundraiser with annual 
revenue goals. You will spend most of your time prospecting, meeting with prospective 
donors, building proposals, and stewarding donors. In addition, you will contribute to 
and sometimes lead internal cross-departmental project teams as requested, and 
responsible for administrative tasks as required. 
 
While the candidate must be available for in-person donor meetings and events, there is

RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Fund Generation 

 • Manages a portfolio of approximately 60-75 prospects through the donor cycle 
including conducting one-on-one meetings with prospects to cultivate donors and 
secure gifts over $25,000 
 

 • Responsibilities include managing a pipeline and ensuring real-time tracking, 
forecasting and objective-setting, identifying prospects, making discovery calls, 
developing proposals and letters, crafting benefits and recognition strategies, 
reporting and donor stewardship, and negotiating terms for contracts with new 
and renewing partners 
 

 • Develops and implements strategies to build relationships with partners of BGC 
Canada, ensuring quality stewardship to share the impact of BGC Canada and

Your help at Bingos ensures we can be excellent partners to Gaming Centres, directing funds raised to research and programs supporting the more than 4,300 Canadians living with the&nbsp;most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults.
