Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event, celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases. This role involves in-person interactions. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases.&nbsp;&nbsp;This role involves in-person interactions.&nbsp;Responsibilities:&nbsp;Adhere to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct&nbsp;&nbsp;Collaborate with a team of other volunteers to plan and promote your local Gutsy Walk.&nbsp;&nbsp;Act as a role model by registering for Gutsy Walk and supporting fundraising, directly or indirectly (by sharing new ideas and leads, doing your own fundraising, promoting the event amongst your networks.&nbsp;&nbsp;We’re looking for volunteers to support their local Gutsy Walk in the following ways:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Community Outreach – inspire people to sign-up for and participate in our Gutsy Walk&nbsp;&nbsp;Media Relations – connect with local media outlets to promote the Gutsy Walk&nbsp;&nbsp;Social Media – raise awareness about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and the Gutsy Walk through social media&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Corporate Sponsorship – engage with local businesses to promote donations of sponsorship and gifts in kind&nbsp;&nbsp;Stewardship – build relationships with Gutsy Walk participants and encourage engagement&nbsp;&nbsp;Time commitment:&nbsp;Approximately 4-8 hours a month including monthly committee meetings, with additional meetings leading up to event day and a post-event wrap up meeting&nbsp;Some daytime availability is ideal for distributing promotional materials, making phone calls and responding to emails&nbsp;Evening and weekend availability may be required for stakeholder engagement&nbsp;&nbsp;What you bring:&nbsp;An Interest in exploring the best ways to make your local Gutsy Walk a success&nbsp;Strong networking skills and the willingness to connect with new people over email or the phone&nbsp;An interest in inspiring people to take part in Gutsy Walk&nbsp;&nbsp;Comfortable approaching businesses and local media to secure partnerships, sponsorships and coverage&nbsp;Familiarity with social media and online promotion&nbsp;&nbsp;Collaboration and teamwork skills&nbsp;&nbsp;What we offer:&nbsp;A community of support, a dedicated staff partner, a team of peers and role-specific training&nbsp;An opportunity to use and grow professional skills and expand your network&nbsp;A hands-on chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis in your community&nbsp;&nbsp;Crohn’s and Colitis Canada commits to supporting you in your role and to providing an engaging volunteer experience.
