
Gutsy Walk First Aid Volunteer
Join the fun as a Gutsy Walk volunteer!
Gutsy Walk is Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s signature national fundraising event celebrated on the first Sunday of June each year. Thousands of people across Canada come together on one day to raise money to advance medical research and improve the lives of Canadians who are affected by these diseases.
This role involves in-person interactions.
We are seeking volunteers with valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certificates, or higher-level certification. Note: a staff partner will ask to view certification prior to volunteer placement.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada policies and procedures, including the Volunteer Code of Conduct.
- Deliver first aid to the public at an outdoor community fundraising event as a volunteer.
- Examine and treat injuries within the scope of training and/or refer injured individual(s) to appropriate practitioner and/or arrange for transport to the local hospital.
- Provide standard first aid treatment for injuries not considered serious, which may include cleaning injured areas and applying antiseptic, salves, ointments, or bandages.
- Maintain required records and documentation including a log of injuries requiring first aid treatment.
- Provide records and documentation to leadership volunteer or staff partner at the end of the event.
- Maintain adequate inventory of first aid supplies and report items that should be restocked/ replaced to leadership volunteer or staff partner.
- Maintain a neat and tidy first aid station.
Time commitment:
Volunteer shifts will be scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026, for approximately 7 hours. A staff partner or leadership volunteer will provide specific information about your shift in advance of event day.
