Unpaid Volunteer Position

Do you want to be part of a supportive and passion-driven volunteer team working together to support LNH Adult Learning Centres Halton exciting, expanding mission?

If so, please consider joining our Board of Directors!

For over 40 years, LNH Adult Learning Centres Halton (ALNH) has opened doors to learning for adults in the communities of Halton. Through individual tutoring and small group classes, we help learners acquire essential skills for success. From literacy, numeracy, and computer skills needed for daily living, to academic upgrading for entry into apprenticeships or applied college programs.

The community members who come to us have personal goals as diverse as they are. And put in long hours and extra effort to take classes and complete coursework, often while also working and raising families.

The demand for our programming has grown, along with our work. We are welcoming new Board members who believe in our mission and can help us continue to build a robust organization with strong support, awareness, and partnerships throughout our communities. Particularly our service areas, which includes Acton, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton and Oakville.

Volunteer Board members serve a minimum two-year term. We welcome individuals who bring with them a variety of skills, perspectives, and backgrounds, including community knowledge, management, marketing, public speaking, fundraising, or operational expertise. With your help, we can support even more community members - one learner at a time.

You are:

  • A community cheerleader, looking to support vital charities like ours that make a difference in the Halton Region (Acton, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton and Oakville)
  • A relationship builder who enjoys public speaking or connecting with others
  • You'll thrive thanks to:
A strong group of fellow board members who care passionately about the organization’s work
    Onboarding training and supports
  • What you will bring:
Fresh ideas and community knowledge, management, marketing, public speaking, fundraising, or operational expertise
  • What you will be doing:
Volunteering 6-12 hours per month on Board activities for a 2-year term
Attending monthly Board meetings (except July and August), the Board of Directors usually meet the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00pm - 9:00 p.m.
