Part Time Community Support Counsellor (CSC) 

(for Church Community) (15 to 20 hours a week estimated) 

We are searching for a candidate to provide practical, emotional, counseling support to our 

values-based community, both in-person and online. The successful candidate will participate in, 

and provide leadership during, our Sunday gatherings and weekly programs, and will work with 

a new nontraditional leadership team to foster partnerships within the larger community. We

 Sunday Gathering Co-Leadership responsibilities 

 • Lead “pastoral” aspects of our Sunday service, being mindful of balancing our in- person and 
online membership. 

 • Prepare for and lead 2-4 themed talks each year, to be presented during scheduled Sunday 
gatherings - related to Caring and Connection topics. 


Programs and Partnerships 

 • Liaise with the Executive Director and staff, and attend staff meetings. 
 • Be the point of contact for others within the community to bring care concerns about 

members in the community. 

 • Visit community members and/or their families as needed - in person or via Zoom. 
 • Potentially train community members for volunteer positions that relate to visitation and 

wellness support. 

 • Identify the need for programming that targets specific emotional, psychological and 
relational care concerns e.g., social connection through a weekly coffee hour. 

 • Lead weekly programming related to care and connection. 
 • Support volunteers who lead programs/initiatives related to care and connection (e.g. Crafty 

Afternoons, Men’s Group, Labyrinth, Dinner with Friends, Outreach). 

 • Create personal connections (find out interests, offer options of areas to connect/join within 
the community) while building rapport that allows for pastoral care needs to be shared (i.e., 

listening, identifying needs). Invite feedback from newcomers about their personal 

experience of connecting with WHU. 


QUALIFICATIONS 

 • A variety of relevant professional backgrounds and experiences will be considered, such as 
candidates with backgrounds in Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Pastoral Care, 

Counselling, etc. 

 • We are looking for a skilled and caring individual with experience in dealing with a primarily 
older population. 

 • Demonstrates excellence in group facilitation skills. 
 • Experience working with the broader community, its leaders, and programs, particularly as it 

relates to Community Outreach initiatives. 


 • Able to build and support volunteer teams. 
 • Knowledge of not-for-profit organization models would be an asset. 
 • Attuned to diversity, equity and inclusion.

School food programs are meaningful, trajectory-shifting programs that can transform equity, opportunity, and feelings of belonging for children and youth.Job Purpose:&nbsp;Student nutrition initiatives are growing and shifting across Ontario in response to increased need. In Halton Region, we believe our ultimate vision for student nutrition in schools should be equitably accessible nourishing meals for all. This role plays a key part in helping us make our vision a reality, by ensuring school programs operate efficiently and that our school partnerships are thriving, reciprocal, and rooted in trust and respect.You will:<ul><li>Work with the Student Nutrition Program team to ensure school programs meet their critical benchmarks, such as universal and inclusive; student informed; and diverse&nbsp;</li><li>You will work with the Student Nutrition Program team to identify opportunities for expanded program capacity, supporting schools on-site with programming upgrades, menu planning, volunteer participation, and more.&nbsp;</li><li>Help ensure schools are on track with budget and provide a balance of produce, proteins, and whole grains in ways that foster engaging, community-building opportunities for students.&nbsp;</li><li>Support Student Nutrition Program activities including fundraising events, campaigns, and in-school events.&nbsp;</li><li>Support the Student Nutrition Program team and management by ensuring school partners are compliant in meeting reporting, budget, and communication requirements as determined by our provincial partner, the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services. Works alongside program managers to ensure correct Student Nutrition Program data is being tracked for each program, and follows the guidelines set by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services</li><li>Be available to support and guide program coordinators or lead volunteers at individual schools either in-person, by phone, or virtual meetings.</li><li>Help support the community of school volunteers through training, stewardship, and support initiatives.&nbsp;</li><li>Collaborate with the team on innovative program expansions and pilots.&nbsp;</li><li>Participate in periodic evaluation processes and changes. Assess individual Student Nutrition Program sites and their coordinators on an ongoing basis. Use evaluation tools to monitor programs effectiveness and achievements.&nbsp;Support school program administrative tasks and duties.&nbsp;</li><li>Support schools in program problem-solving.&nbsp;</li><li>Implement, and monitors program policies as required (e.g., safety, program privacy, etc.)&nbsp;</li><li>Support HFFT’ s philanthropy and communications work by gathering impact-stories and testimonials from school staff, families, community partners and students.&nbsp;</li><li>Regularly visits schools for support and stewardship. Through national campaigns, resources, and events, we aim to connect students and educators with nature in meaningful and impactful ways.<h3>Position Summary:</h3>We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Fund Development Contractor to support and grow Take Me Outside’s funding through grant writing and corporate partnerships. This role will focus on identifying and securing funding that aligns with our mission, values, and strategic priorities.
