The Program Director, Wildlife is responsible for the successful development, coordination and implementation of Humane World for Animals Canada and Humane World Foundation Canada wildlife protection programs. The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH - <a href="http://www.wfh.org" target="_blank">http://www.wfh.org</a>) is an international not-for-profit 
organization that provides global leadership to improve and sustain care for people with inherited 
bleeding disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, rare factor deficiencies, and inherited 
platelet disorders. Established in 1963, the WFH works with member organizations in 151 countries as 
well as through a network of international volunteers and healthcare providers to achieve our vision of 
"Treatment for All" around the world.

The WFH is looking for an experienced, results-oriented REGIONAL MANAGER with superior 
project / health program management abilities and interpersonal skills, to represent the WFH 
and coordinate the implementation of its country and health care development programs and 
activities in South America (12 countries). He/she will further act as conduit between WFH 
headquarters and national member organizations (NMO) and bleeding disorders community 
within the region. 

No relocation assistance available; must be legally entitled to live &amp; work in the country: 
experience with bleeding disorders (preferred), and in healthcare development primarily in 
South America (essential). fluent in English &amp; Spanish; working knowledge of Portuguese – an 
asset. 

Location: Chile, Uruguay, Sao Paolo (Brazil), Bogota (Colombia) – preferred 

Type of position: contractual (two years, renewable); home-based; full-time

Principal Responsibilities - 

Reporting to the Head, Global Development at the WFH headquarters, the Regional Manager 
– South America will be responsible for the development, management, implementation, and 
delivery of a portfolio of healthcare programs at the country and regional level and for 
overseeing the implementation and follow up of WFH-led world healthcare development 
programs and activities for designated countries within the region (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, 
Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela).

As the main representative for the WFH within the region, the Regional Manager will carry out 
the following tasks: 

 • Represent the WFH within the region and assist the organization in defining strategic 
objectives and work plans for the region 

 • Provide guidance and support to WFH national member organizations (NMOs) in South 
America and maintain the collaboration national and regional stakeholders (HCPs, 
governments, other organizations and industry) 

 • Ensure effective development, planning, coordination, monitoring, reporting, and 
evaluation of the following WFH bleeding disorder programs in the region, including: 

â¢ Country development programs (Country Programs, Cornerstone Initiative, 
PACT) 

â¢ Regional workshops, conferences and other regional activities targeting 
people with bleeding disorders and healthcare professionals 

â¢ Medical and organizational and youth twinning partnerships 

â¢ Contribute to raising awareness and to the implementation of other WFH-led 
programs (example: humanitarian aid, global training programs &amp; initiatives, 
data collection) offered to designated regions. 

 • Facilitate and support the work of key volunteers and WFH committees; respond to 
queries and correspondence in regard to programs and activities 

 • Conduct country visits with expert volunteers to meet with the NMOs, senior 
government officials, as well as hemophilia treatment centers, hospitals, blood banks 
and other organizations as required 

 • Ensure sound administrative and financial control of budgets and planned program 
activities spending in the region, including timely production of progress reports and 
other relevant documents 

 • Document visits (written reports &amp; visuals) and author articles for WFH online news and 
social media, on current programs and activities in the region. 

Carry out other tasks relevant to the position as required by the Head, Global Development, 
the Director, Global Development, or the CEO as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS – 

 • Bachelor’s degree in public health, international development or relations, political 
studies, social sciences, or other relevant discipline 

 • Six to nine (6-9) years of relevant work experience with a world health development 
organization – notably with bleeding disorders - that includes at least five years 
(essential) of proven track record in country project/ health program management, and 
monitoring &amp; evaluation of health programs in South American countries (Argentina, 
Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, 
Venezuela); experience working in a similar regional role – an asset 

 • Solid understanding of socio-economic conditions and world health (example: 
noncommunicable diseases, or rare diseases) developmental issues in the stated region 

 • Excellent diplomatic and cross-cultural skills, and demonstrated experience in working 
with people from diverse cultures and countries; superior abilities to build/maintain

networks and working relationships with stakeholders and partner organizations: highly 
motivated, efficient and flexible individual with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills 

 • Demonstrated capacity to work in a self-directed manner (autonomously) and to 
collaborate effectively with government, healthcare and/or public affairs officials and 
volunteers as well as with HQ staff and senior management team 

 • Excellent analytical and communication (public speaking, presentations) capabilities, 
and recognized abilities for mediating/resolving issues, conflicts 

 • Strong organization skills, and time management skills to effectively balance &amp; prioritize 
multiple tasks, work simultaneously on several projects and manage all administrative 
tasks efficiently 

 • Mastery of English and Spanish as primary languages of work (written and spoken); 
working knowledge of Portuguese – an asset 

 • High computer literacy, with extensive experience working with Windows Microsoft 
Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point), plus Outlook, internet, and AI tools 

 • Availability and flexibility to undertake regular travel within the region. International 
travel may be required for specific gatherings 

 • Legally entitled to live, work (from home) in the South American region (no relocation 
assistance possible)

Responsabilidades principales: 

Reportando al Jefe de Desarrollo Global en la sede central de la FMH en Montreal, Canadá, el 
gerente regional para Sudamérica será responsable del desarrollo, la gestión, la 
implementación y la ejecución de una cartera de programas de atención sanitaria a nivel 
nacional y regional, así como de supervisar la implementación y el seguimiento de los 
programas y actividades de desarrollo sanitario mundial dirigidos por la FMH para los países 
designados dentro de esta región (Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, 
Ecuador, Paraguay, Perú, Surinam, Uruguay y Venezuela). 

Como principal representante de la FMH en la región, el gerente regional llevará a cabo las 
siguientes tareas:

 • Representar a la FMH en la región y ayudar a la organización a definir los objetivos 
estratégicos y los planes de trabajo para la región. 

 • Proporcionar orientación y apoyo a las organizaciones nacionales miembros (ONM) de 
la FMH en Sudamérica y mantener la colaboración con las partes interesadas nacionales 
y regionales (profesionales sanitarios, gobiernos, otras organizaciones y la industria). 

 • Garantizar el desarrollo, la planificación, la coordinación, el seguimiento, la 
presentación de informes y la evaluación eficaces de los siguientes programas de la 
FMH en la región, entre otros: 

â¢ Programas de desarrollo nacional (programas nacionales, iniciativa piedra 
angular, PACT). 

â¢ Talleres regionales, conferencias y otras actividades regionales dirigidas a 
personas con trastornos hemorrágicos y profesionales sanitarios. 

â¢ Hermanamientos entre centros de tratamiento, organizaciones y juveniles. 
â¢ Contribuir a la sensibilización y a la implementación de otros programas 

dirigidos por la FMH (por ejemplo, ayuda humanitaria, programas e iniciativas 
de formación global, recopilación de datos) ofrecidos a países designados. 

 • Facilitar y apoyar el trabajo de los voluntarios clave y los comités de la FMH; responder 
a las consultas y la correspondencia relacionadas con los programas y actividades. 

 • Realizar visitas a los países con voluntarios expertos para reunirse con las 
organizaciones nacionales miembros, altos funcionarios gubernamentales, así como 
con centros de tratamiento de la hemofilia, hospitales, bancos de sangre y otras 
organizaciones, según sea necesario. 

 • Garantizar un control administrativo y financiero adecuado de los presupuestos y los 
gastos previstos para las actividades del programa en la región, incluida la elaboración 
oportuna de informes de progreso y otros documentos pertinentes. 

 • Documentar las visitas (informes escritos y material audiovisual) y redactar artículos 
para las noticias y las redes sociales de la FMH sobre los programas y actividades 
actuales en la región. 

Realizar otras tareas relacionadas con el puesto según lo requiera el jefe de Desarrollo Global, 
el director de Desarrollo Global o el director ejecutivo de la FMH, según sea necesario.

CALIFICACIONES y REQUISITOS – 

 • Licenciatura en salud pública, desarrollo o relaciones internacionales, estudios 
políticos, ciencias sociales u otra disciplina relevante. 

 • De seis a nueve (6-9) años de experiencia laboral relevante en una organización 
mundial de desarrollo sanitario, especialmente en el ámbito de los trastornos de la 
coagulación, que incluya al menos cinco años (imprescindible) de experiencia 
demostrable en la gestión de proyectos nacionales/programas sanitarios y en el 
seguimiento y la evaluación de programas sanitarios en países sudamericanos 
(Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Ecuador, Paraguay, Perú, Surinam, 
Uruguay y Venezuela). Experiencia trabajando en un puesto regional similar: una 
ventaja. 

 • Sólida comprensión de las condiciones socioeconómicas y las cuestiones de desarrollo 
de la salud mundial (por ejemplo, enfermedades no transmisibles o enfermedades 
raras) en la región mencionada.

 • Excelentes habilidades diplomáticas e interculturales, y experiencia demostrada en el
