Redrawing the Maps—Charting Our Own Paths Forward

South x South Collaborations Society is a cultural and creative industry innovation lab with offices in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada.

Join us as we connect creatives from across Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Asia-Pacific regions to tell their stories and have a positive impact on the future of the global creative economy.

Our innovative research, events, and projects create and strengthen opportunities for knowledge exchange, creative economy development, market access, and international collaboration.

We are seeking 2 creative and motivated volunteers to support our social media and community outreach efforts. The ideal candidates will be able to help us grow our digital presence, share our story, and engage audiences in Canada and around the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement social media strategies that increase awareness of the Society's mission and impact.
  • Create engaging content for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and other relevant platforms.
  • Design graphics, promotional materials, and social media campaigns.
  • Support digital advertising and audience growth initiatives.
  • Promote events, research publications, partnership opportunities, and organizational announcements.
  • Help showcase stories, opportunities, and collaborations involving partners and communities throughout the Global South.
  • Engage with online audiences and foster meaningful connections with supporters and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, international development, global affairs, or non-profit work.
  • Strong written communication and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing social media accounts is an asset.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools is desirable.
  • Passion for international collaboration, the creative economy, and strengthening relationships between Canada and the Global South.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.

The purposes of South x South Collaborations Society are:

  • To support high-impact opportunities for Canada–Global South creative economy collaboration, with emphasis on Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Asia-Pacific region.
  • To strengthen cross-border networks among community members, governments, philanthropic organizations, academic institutions, entrepreneurs, and businesses to co-design practical collaboration solutions.
  • To generate and share actionable research and learning on creative-sector cooperation in the Global South and to use evidence to improve partnership models and decision-making.
  • To prototype, pilot, and scale Canada–Global South partnership initiatives that expand exchange and market access.

We believe that the most effective solutions emerge through collaboration, mutual learning, and direct engagement with communities and partners throughout the Global South.
