Youth Leader

Volunteer Opportunity | Surrey, British Columbia

St. John Ambulance (“SJA”) is a community charitable organization best known for first aid training and services. With roots stretching back more than 900 years, it is part of one of the world’s oldest humanitarian organizations. Through the Youth Program, young people aged 9 to 18 learn first aid, develop leadership and confidence, and give back to their community in a supportive and structured environment. As a uniformed organization, the program carries a proud tradition of drill and ceremony that builds discipline, teamwork, and pride. The program is delivered through weekly training meetings, where Youth Leaders plan, organize, and run first aid and leadership development lessons for youth members.

We are looking for volunteer Youth Leaders to help run our weekly youth meetings in Surrey. This is a volunteer role. No prior experience with St. John Ambulance is needed. • Reliable, approachable, and comfortable working as part of a team

Time Commitment

  • Weekly meeting nights of about 2 hours, on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Meetings follow the school year, from September to June. Meetings are paused for the summer months and resume in the following September
  • Occasional additional time for special events, activities, and training (approximately 30-60 mins per week)
  • Meetings are held at the St. John Ambulance Surrey Branch, 8911 152nd Street, Surrey, BC V3R 4E5

  • An orientation to SJA and the Youth Program, so you feel confident and supported in the role

  • Certification in first aid and hands-on youth leadership experience
