BabyGoRound's program benefits low income families by providing access to essential baby gear and clothing, free of charge. We receive donations of second-hand clothing and baby gear from the public, which is processed and prepared by our volunteers. Our clothing sorting volunteers play a key role in ensuring that our inventory of baby clothing is organized, well stocked, and meets our quality standards.
Impact of this role:
Last year, BabyGoRound's program supported 1761 families with access to essential baby gear and clothing, positively impacting 5,750+ family members.

Approximately 95% of baby gear that BabyGoRound distributes annually is gently used. Last year, 66,800 lbs of pre-loved baby gear was diverted from the landfill, thanks to our community of donors and volunteers. Our gear processing and clothing sorting volunteers keep this circular system going round - checking, cleaning, and preparing critical baby gear to be passed on to the families who need it most. This circular approach of collecting and connecting pre-loved baby essentials is more than an exchange; it’s a cycle of care that benefits our planet and people.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

Volunteers will work in our warehouse and report to the resource staff lead, and be supported by the volunteer coordinator. During your shift, staff will be available to assist you, answer questions, and provide guidance. You will have written guidelines to refer to regarding instructions for processing baby gear, important baby gear safety considerations, and a binder of recalled baby gear. Commitment and Availability:&nbsp;Our volunteer opportunities offer a lot of flexibility, allowing you to adjust your schedule week to week. We are looking for reliable volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 2, 2.25 hr shifts/month for 1 year. Volunteers should also have availability during our operating hours: Monday-Thursday between 9:45am-2:30pm. Additional Requirements: All onsite volunteers are required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for work with children and vulnerable adults. Our&nbsp;Mentoring with Math Program&nbsp;is designed to strengthen the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship. Volunteers meet once-a-week for 90 minute sessions during afternoons over a 10 week period, and work on numeracy, activities, and games. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and all training is provided by Big Brothers. This program is offered virtually and in-person in Greater Vancouver. Our Math Mentors are<ul><li>Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Available to meet once weekly during weekday afternoons between 4:00pm and 5:30pm for 90-minutes for in-person sessions, or 60 minutes for virtual sessions.</li></ul>Our Mentoring with Math volunteers are asked to enroll in two 8-10 week terms as it's the best way to experience this fun program. Our&nbsp;In-School Mentoring Program&nbsp;pairs you with one elementary school student who you share common interests with. Matches spend one-hour once per week together on school grounds doing non-academic activities such as playing sports, games, creating art or just hanging out at the playground. Our matches are paired for the duration, or remainder, of the academic school-year. Deadline to apply to volunteer in this program for the 2025-26 school year is Feb 1, 2026. Our&nbsp;Big Brothers Community Program&nbsp;pairs you with a Little Buddy based on personality and shared interests to build a supportive one-to-one relationship based on trust, connection, and fun! Our matches spend two or more hours once per week doing free or low-cost activities they enjoy most and are paired for a minimum of one year. Our Big Brothers are<ul><li>Male, trans, and gender diverse individuals who are 18+.</li><li>Reliable, consistent, dedicated and respectful of others.</li><li>Able to meet once weekly for 2 or more hours with a Mentee on weekends or afterschool.</li></ul>Our Little Brothers are<ul><li>Boys, trans, and gender-diverse children and youth ages 7 to 14.&nbsp;</li><li>Those who would benefit from having a positive role model in their life.</li></ul>SURREY, NOW IS THE TIME TO VOLUNTEER!Some of our Littles in Surrey have been waiting more than 2 YEARS to meet their Big Brother Mentor.
