Senior Consultant, Membership & Revenue Design
The Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) is the national voice of public transit in Canada. Our members move millions of Canadians every day, at a time when the sector is experiencing significant investment, growth and transformation. CUTA is strengthening the systems, tools and revenue approaches that support our membership, events and long-term sustainability.
We are engaging a Senior Consultant for an eight-month mandate to lead two key areas of work: developing a modernized, sustainable membership pricing framework and creating a structured, forward-looking strategy for CUTA’s Transit Show, including sponsorship and new revenue opportunities.
This role requires an experienced professional who can work independently, quickly understand CUTA’s membership and event cycles, conduct the necessary research and analysis, and translate findings into practical recommendations and an actionable approach.
The Mandate
Membership Pricing & Revenue
You will design and implement a membership pricing methodology that supports CUTA’s diverse national membership and future growth.
- Design and implement a standardized dues methodology across multiple membership categories
- Build the calculation model that runs it — annual percentage adjustments, category-specific requirements and approved exceptions, standardized and documented
- Set clear business rules, controls and validation processes governing membership pricing and future renewal cycles
- Align the full process from membership data and member-level calculations through invoicing, reconciliation and revenue reporting
- Document the methodology and equip the Membership and Finance teams to own and maintain it going forward
Sponsorship & Transit Show Revenue
The Transit Show is one of the most important gatherings in Canadian transit, convening the operators, suppliers and decision-makers who shape the sector. You will strengthen the revenue program that reflects its standing in the market.
- Build a structured sponsorship and exhibitor revenue program with a defined pipeline, targets, timelines and accountabilities
- Establish an earlier and more proactive sales cycle for sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities
- Review sponsorship packages, pricing and value propositions and identify opportunities for revenue growth
- Strengthen forecasting, revenue tracking and reporting to give leadership visibility throughout the sales cycle
- Equip the Events team with practical work plans, playbooks, templates and tools they can run independently
Who This Is For
This is a role for a practitioner with 5+ years of relevant experience who has directly built, reviewed or administered membership dues and pricing models with complexity, multiple categories, annual adjustments, pricing rules and exceptions — and carried those calculations through renewal and invoicing cycles.
You should be fluent in:
- Membership dues and pricing methodology within an association, professional body or member-based organization, including multiple categories, annual adjustments and exceptions
- Advanced Excel and financial / revenue modelling, including formulas, validation, reconciliation and data analysis
- The full path from pricing decision to member-level calculation to invoice, reconciliation and reported revenue
- Leading business process or transformation work end to end, design, implementation, documentation, training and handoff
- Working collaboratively across Membership, Finance, Events and senior leadership
Non-dues revenue experience, sponsorship, partnership or tradeshow is strongly preferred. QuickBooks, CRM or AMS familiarity is an asset. Candidates should have direct experience with membership dues, pricing and revenue processes, rather than experience focused primarily on member engagement or communications.
If you have built membership pricing models, carried them through renewal and invoicing cycles, and know how to turn revenue strategy into practical systems and processes, we would like to hear from you.
