
Part-Time Development Assistant
Location: Toronto, ON (in-person)
Office: 124 Merton Street, Suite 401, Toronto, ON M4S 2Z2. New office at King and Strachan opening November 2026.
Employment Type: Part-time, Contract
Work Structure: Approximately 16 hours per week in-office
Compensation: $21.00 - $24/hour

About Asthma Canada
Asthma Canada is the only national registered charity solely dedicated to helping people with asthma in Canada lead healthy, symptom-free lives. We provide education, advocacy, and research support to improve asthma care and raise awareness of the seriousness of the disease and related conditions.
Scope of Services
The Part-Time Development Assistant supports the organization’s fundraising and administrative functions through donation processing, donor database maintenance, data entry, donor acknowledgements, report preparation, and general administrative support. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Services to be Provided
- Perform accurate data entry, data maintenance, and data exports within the donor database.
- Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of donor records, administrative files and organization records.
- Prepare bank deposits and generate donation reconciliation and summary reports.
- Issue tax receipts in accordance with organizational policies and CRA requirements.
- Prepare and distribute donor thank-you letters in a timely manner.
- Assemble, prepare, and distribute information packages, resources, and donor materials as required.
- Assist with general fundraising, donor stewardship, and administrative activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- This position requires a post-secondary diploma in a related field and/or a minimum of two years office experience.
- Experience working in a health care environment or not-for-profit environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with donor databases, preferably DonorPerfect, with a strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, customer service and written skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently.
- Outstanding troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and donors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and database management software.
- Ability to work effectively in a results-oriented, deadline-driven environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and a sense of humour.
