Horse Leader or Side Walker For Therapeutic Riding Program
Spring Session starts in March!
Volunteers are needed to lead horses or side-walk for riders with special needs. No prior horse experience necessary. As a leader you need the ability to understand & carry out direct instructions. As a side-walker you need to comprehend instructions & pass them onto the rider & may also need to physically assist/support the rider. Both positions require physical endurance, verbal skills, & excellent English comprehension.
Volunteers must be 15 yrs or older.
We run seasonal riding sessions of 8 weeks in length. Classes are 60 minutes each and run on Monday-Thursday daytime and evenings and Saturdays. Volunteers arrive 30 min ahead of time to prepare horses. We ask volunteers to commit to at least one class (1 1/2 hours) per week for the duration of a full season.
