Finance Committee Member - volunteer
Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC) is responsible for the accreditation of entry-to-practice physiotherapy education programs in Canada.
The PEAC Governance Committee, a standing committee of the PEAC Board of Directors, is responsible for the succession planning, and is initiating recruitment for two (2) new External Members for the Finance Committee for appointment by the PEAC Board of Directors in July 2026. Members are sought from organizations or key interested and impacted parties with physiotherapy education and/or financial expertise. In accordance with the Finance Committee’s recruitment process, we ask for your assistance in our recruitment of two (2) new External Members to fill these vacancies.
While the emphasis of expertise on the Finance Committee relates to the accounting, financial reporting, and financial-related legal obligations of PEAC, the organization is committed towards transformative change. We understand the importance of a diversity of voices and are seeking out opportunities to increase the power of those that hold critical and lived expertise within the Finance Committee; in particular but not limited to those who are part of racialized, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ2S+ communities.
The purpose and responsibility of the Finance Committee is outlined in the Terms of Reference in the links below:
French: Mandats: Comité des finances
English: Terms of Reference – Finance Committee
PEAC acknowledges that the current composition of the Finance Committee does not yet fully reflect the diversity of the communities’ physiotherapists serve, including Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis), racialized communities, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ communities, and others who have been historically marginalized. This recruitment process is part of PEAC’s commitment to rebalancing power within its governance structures and ensuring accreditation decisions are informed by multiple ways of knowing, including Indigenous knowledge systems. To ensure the accreditation process reflects the diverse communities’ physiotherapists serve, PEAC is actively seeking candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and current and historically oppressed groups. We believe that a committee composed of diverse perspectives is essential to supporting the PEAC Statement of Commitment, as published on the homepage of the PEAC website.
Please circulate this information to your contacts and network(s) and ask them to suggest individuals to fill this role. The application process is open until the positions are filled. Applicants may self-nominate. If you would prefer to submit the CV and statement of interest sections of the application in a different format, such as an audio or video recording, this will be accepted. Although Finance Committee activities are conducted primarily in English, bilingualism (English and French) would be considered a strong asset. The responsibilities and commitment are articulated as follows:

To do this, transformative change at the personal, interpersonal and systemic levels are required. Transformative change is one that recognizes that our society and institutions (including PEAC) are structured by intersecting systems of inequity, in Canada in particular, by colonialism and racism. By committing to transformational change, we seek to understand and interrupt these systems of inequity, and to working towards a more just world.
To support this commitment, PEAC encourages and supports applications and committee members who bring their lived expertise, including, but not limited to those who are racialized, Black, Indigenous, disabled, and/or members of the 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
Although Finance Committee activities are conducted primarily in English, bilingualism (English and French) would be considered a strong asset as more than one third of PT program reviews occur in French.
