
Executive Administrator
The Ontario Humanist Society is seeking a visionary part-time Executive Administrator with a track record of non-profit leadership, and a demonstrated commitment to environmental action and social justice. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Administrator is responsible for overall strategic and operational leadership of a provincial non-profit including building awareness of humanism, ensuring adequate resources are in place to support the mission, and executing on the strategic strategy for the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the board of directors including, but not limited to, minute taking, creation of agendas and other administrative tasks
- Manage organization files using google docs
- Work with the board to provide strategic direction, guide volunteers in linking strategy to specific programs and projects, with big picture, bold, strategic thinking
- Develop a comprehensive communications plan working in partnership with the communications committee
- Working with the Board of Directors, help identify new prospects for funding
- Broaden membership base
- Cultivate relationships and deepen the OHS’s network: Engage in meaningful and regular communications with current members; collaborate on mobilization tactics; recruit new organizational members
- Engage with the board, regularly update board members on OHS activities, challenges, and opportunities
- Ensure the health and productivity of volunteer committees
- Develop and manage annual budgets
- Maintain and update Wix - OHS’ client and website management program.
Requirements:
- Resident of Ontario
- Personal values that align with humanism
- Superlative problem-solving skills including IT
- Strong team leadership style and proven ability to effectively manage relationships with volunteers and leaders of peer organizations
- Sense of humor, creativity, patience, and entrepreneurial drive
- Compelling writing and inspirational speaking skills
- Proven experience in social justice community building and outreach, including racial equity, LGBTQ rights, anti-racist/intersectional feminism, and environmental causes
- Strong philosophy of stewardship with a clear vision and plan for OHS’s financial sustainability and growth
- Experience in establishing Charitable Status for a Not-for-Profit organization and proven fundraising ability, especially the cultivation of major donors
- Experience with and willingness to acquire and maintain up-to-date technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize them across a broad scope of electronic media
- Management of membership database (Wix)
- Additional responsibilities as required by the Board of Directors
Education and Experience Required:
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience
- At least 5 years of non-profit experience or the equivalent
- Significant supervisory experience
Compensation:
- Virtual, home office space is required
- Independent contractor
- 10 - 20 hours/month; 20 hours on average.
- $1,000 per month, open to some negotiation
