Director of Children, Youth, and Family Programs

PART-TIME (20 hours per week)

Neighbourhood Unitarian Universalist Congregation (NUUC) is a vibrant and growing liberal faith community in east Toronto. Our members hold many different beliefs. Neighbourhood is where we meet to explore them together, challenge ourselves, and learn. We are a warm, lively and welcoming community. The Director of Children, Youth, and Family Programs will lead, plan, organize and execute programming for our children, youth and families. Paid positions are not open to members of NUUC.

Starting rate is $25 to $30 per hour plus benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide engaging programming aligned with NUUC’s values and mission for children and youth

Assess needs of families and children to tailor programming for greater participation

Communicate with families and program volunteers, using website, newsletter, social media, and orienting visiting families on Sundays

Recruit, train, and manage volunteers, including child and youth program leaders

With Minister and Sunday service leaders, implement ways to develop children and youth leadership, and their sense of being an integral part of the NUUC community

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in group facilitation and developing hands-on experiential and inclusive learning. Volunteer coordination experience and comfort with children of a variety of ages, including in mixed-age settings. Excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills.

Familiarity with Unitarian Universalist values, practices, and beliefs. Knowledge of child development, childhood behaviour, and appropriate teaching techniques. Current criminal background check will be required.
