Low Entropy Foundation Board Member & Capital Campaign Cabinet Member Role Description Type of role: Volunteer and Leadership Fundraising Overview Low Entropy Foundation is appointing new Board members to complement our existing volunteer Governing Board of Directors and will also serve as the founding Capital Campaign Cabinet for our $10 million, 2-year unrestricted capital campaign for the Foundation. This is a dual leadership role: Board Members will provide governance, strategic oversight, and fiduciary responsibility for the Foundation, while also actively leading peer-to-peer fundraising for the long-term philanthropic support for the Foundation’s grantmaking initiatives. This is a working board role. It is not symbolic. It is hands-on, high-trust, and impact-driven. We are building a foundation to fund long-term projects that provide wraparound, 360-degree support for individuals in British Columbia. These services help people develop skills, gain experience, grow personally and professionally, and thrive. We support individuals at different stages of their journey, from those facing crisis or challenges to those seeking stability, independence, and opportunities to give back to their communities. Board Members will be essential to making this possible. Role Purpose Board Members of Low Entropy Foundation exist to:

• govern and steward the organization with integrity and accountability;
• ensure alignment with mission, vision, and long-term impact goals;
• support the development and sustainability of the organization; and
• actively participate in fundraising to launch and sustain the Foundation’s capital base.

As members of the Capital Campaign Cabinet, Board Members will also be responsible for leading relationship-based fundraising efforts to secure major gifts, build donor relationships, and support the successful completion of a $10 million capital campaign. This role combines governance with active resource development.

Key Responsibilities This position requires approximately 60 hours per month, including a monthly held Board meeting (virtual) and the participation in around 3 in person events and/or in person meetings. 1. Governance & Strategic Oversight

• Provide fiduciary oversight of Low Entropy Foundation
• Participate in Board meetings and strategic planning sessions
• Support long-term organizational sustainability and impact direction
• Contribute to policy development and governance best practices

2. Capital Campaign Leadership (Fundraising Role)

• Act as a member of the Capital Campaign Cabinet for a $10M campaign
• Actively participate in peer-to-peer fundraising efforts
• Leverage personal and professional networks to identify and engage donors
• Participate in donor cultivation meetings and relationship-building activities
• Support solicitation of major gifts, leadership gifts, and multi-year commitments
• Personally contribute and/or secure a meaningful annual financial commitment
• Help open doors to philanthropic individuals, families, and corporate partners

3. Relationship & Ambassador Role

• Serve as an ambassador for Low Entropy Foundation in the community
• Represent the Foundation’s mission and long-term vision with clarity and confidence
• Build and strengthen relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders
• Support storytelling and communication of impact and purpose

4. Campaign Accountability

• Participate in campaign meetings and progress updates
• Help track fundraising progress and support strategic adjustments
• Collaborate with campaign leadership to achieve fundraising milestones
• Take shared responsibility for campaign success
• Commitment Expectations
• Minimum 2-year commitment aligned with the capital campaign timeline
• Attendance at regular Board meetings (monthly minimum, additional as needed)
• Active participation in Capital Campaign Cabinet meetings and fundraising activities
• Willingness to engage in peer-to-peer fundraising throughout the campaign period
• Time commitment varies based on campaign phase and fundraising activity

This is a working leadership role, requiring consistent engagement.

Ideal Candidate Profile We are seeking individuals who are:

• aligned with the mission of long-term community transformation in BC
• experienced in leadership, governance, philanthropy, business, or community impact
• comfortable engaging in relationship-based fundraising and donor conversations
• well-connected within professional, philanthropic, or business networks
• willing to make a personal financial commitment to the campaign
• motivated to contribute both strategically and operationally
• committed to long-term systems change.

Why This Role Matters Low Entropy Foundation is being built to fund long-term solutions that help people move from instability to independence, with the final objective of being in a position to give back to their communities. Traditional funding models often do not support long-term, integrated, wrap-around solutions. That is why this capital campaign exists to create the financial foundation needed to invest in what actually changes lives over time. Together, we are building the infrastructure to support long-term change in British Columbia. And that begins with leadership, commitment, and shared responsibility.
