Impact Statement

The Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra (KWCO) is the region’s premiere ensemble committed to delivering distinctive and engaging performances for all audiences that celebrate and treasure our local culture and community. Our Board of Directors has a mission to support the orchestra’s mandate and activities through active involvement and through the provision of professional expertise. The Board promotes the orchestra’s interests by nurturing relationships on its behalf and bringing these interested parties and their resources to the orchestra. Our aim is to ensure the orchestra’s long-term health by practicing good governance and oversight.

Board Member Roles

The K-W Chamber Orchestra is seeking Board members in several positions. The Board meets no more than once a month on a weekday evening during the concert season (September to June). It oversees the budget and the part-time employment of three staff, plus remuneration of performers.

We are particularly seeking Directors who are willing to take on one of the following roles:

  • Bingo Volunteer Coordination and Management
  • Sponsorship, Grant Writing, and Fundraising
  • Concert Volunteer Coordination and Management
  • Members at Large

Training Details and Working Conditions

Candidates will be interviewed, and the successful candidates will be introduced to the Board and its workings by the Chair and through Board meetings. Training in specific roles will be provided by the Chair, current board members and the general manager.
Working Conditions: We are a small, but friendly and enthusiastic Board comprised of interested participants from the community.
Accessibility: Accessible work space
Transportation: Concerts are on a bus route, board meetings occur via Zoom

Time Commitment Duration: 3-year term
Weekday – Evening, Anytime
Regular Board meetings (10 per year), some additional time based on committee membership and specific roles.
