Since 1993, we’ve been walking alongside survivors on their path to healing, providing compassion, resources, and hope when it’s needed most.
Abuse Hurts is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by abuse, violence, bullying, and trauma through education, prevention, awareness, and community-based support programs. Abuse Hurts is a national, charitable organization dedicated to reducing the impact and incidence of abuse through awareness, education, and direct support.
Position Summary
Are you passionate about creating safer, healthier communities and supporting individuals impacted by abuse, violence, bullying, and trauma?
Abuse Hurts is seeking committed and community-minded individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors as we continue to expand our impact through education, prevention, advocacy, and innovative community programming, including our Delivering Hope program.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise, leadership, and perspective to a growing organization dedicated to building awareness, strengthening resilience, and supporting healing through compassionate, trauma-informed approaches.
We are currently Seeking Individuals with Experience In
- Fundraising and philanthropy
- Financial management, accounting or financial oversight
- Trauma-informed practice, mental health, social services or community support background
- Human Resources
About the Role
Board Directors provide governance, strategic guidance, and stewardship to support the mission and long-term sustainability of the organization. Directors work collaboratively with fellow board members and organizational leadership to:
- Support strategic direction and organizational growth
- Strengthen community relationships and partnerships
- Support fundraising and resource development efforts
- Provide financial oversight and governance leadership
- Promote accountability, equity, and trauma-informed practice
- Act as ambassadors for the organization within the community
Ideal Candidates Will:
- Actively engage in fundraising efforts
- Be passionate about community impact and social change
- Bring professional expertise and strategic thinking
- Demonstrate integrity, empathy, and collaborative leadership
- Be committed to equity, inclusion, and respectful engagement
- Be willing to actively contribute time, ideas, and support to the organization’s growth
Commitment
- Volunteer Board Director position
- Attendance at regular board meetings and occasional committee meetings
- Participation in strategic discussions, fundraising activities, and community engagement opportunities
