Job Overview

We are seeking a candidate to provide part-time program assistance for COMET, a weekly Drop-in Program for S2LGBTQIA+ Youth. www.fairlawnchurch.ca/comet and www.instagram.com/comet.nt

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Program Assistant will work with the Coordinator and the Volunteer Team to assist with the planning and facilitation of the weekly program activities. The Program Assistant will strive to make the Program participants feel welcome and included.

Location

28 Fairlawn Avenue, Toronto

Hours of Work

Tuesdays 2:30pm – 9:00pm, from September 1, 2026 – June 8, 2027

Duties and Responsibilities

Attend each of the Tuesday Programs and participate as follows:

• Assist with the set-up for the program
• Assist the Program Coordinator with introductions and community- building activities
• Model the behaviour expected from participants with the goal of providing a safe, secure, accepting place where 2SLGBTQ2IA+ youth and their friends and allies can find a sense of community and support
• Assist the Program Coordinator with arranging educational or interest programs and provide leadership of such programs as agreed with the Program Coordinator
• Assist with the clean-up of the Program space following the Program
• Assist with keeping the room used for the Programs tidy
• Other duties as agreed upon with the Program Coordinator

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check

Experience

Experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ youth is an asset.

Remuneration

$20.00 / hour
