The Opportunity 
Foyer Maillard, a Coquitlam, BC based non-profit housing society offering subsidized 
long-term care for elderly resident, is seeking fully bilingual (French and English) 
volunteer board members who are passionate about the Foyer Maillard Mission: to 
provide a community that embraces excellence in person-centered care. 
 
The six current directors embrace the values of collaboration, autonomy, respect 
and excellence. They are committed to working together to develop a renewed 
strategic vision while fortifying the Society’s governance foundations. Now is the

The Board is seeking up to three additional directors with expertise in one or more

leadership style, a strong commitment to community and a passion for supporting 
and empowering people in need through effective housing and related services. 
 
Attributes we are seeking 

 • Understanding of the principles of good governance, the importance of 
remaining at a strategic oversight level (without intervening in operational 
activities) 

 • Availability to dedicate approximately 10-20 volunteer hours per quarter to 


 
attend board meetings, support subcommittee work and oversee a capable 
management team. 

 • Responsive, available and reliable: punctual, able to plan and commit to 
meeting dates; committed to providing timely and thoughtful response to 
emails, to pitching in on board or committee work between meetings as 
needed. 

 • Knowledge of the long-term care sector including familiarity with BC Housing, 
Fraser Health, municipal government and other partners in the sector 

 • Professional experience in organizational leadership, potentially with 
qualifications as a CPA, lawyer, MBA/general executive or HR professional 
(CPHR). 

 • Warm-hearted, team-oriented, adaptable and inclusive personality 
 • Able to explain complex matters in layman's terms with clarity and patience 
 • Exceptional communicator, able to relate to people at all levels and diversity of

About Foyer Maillard 
The Society was formed when a French Canadian Maillardville couple made a 
substantial land bequest in the 1960’s. Their wish was to build an affordable home 
for seniors. The wish became a reality, with the support and donations of many 
community residents, CMHC and B.C. Housing Corporation. 
 
The Foyer Maillard opened its doors as a residence for seniors on May 1, 1969, 
offering supportive housing for seniors in a room and board model. A massive 
renovation project was undertaken in the 1980s to incorporate licensed care in the 
building for those residents wishing to “age in place”. In 2014 the original building 
was demolished to build a state of the art, purpose-built residence for seniors 
requiring complex care. Foyer Maillard welcomed its first resident into the new 
building on June 7, 2016.

À propos du Foyer Maillard 
La Société a été créée dans les années 1960 grâce au don d’un couple canadien-
français de Maillardville, qui souhaitait construire un foyer abordable pour les aînés.

Le Foyer Maillard a ouvert ses portes le 1er mai 1969 comme résidence offrant 
hébergement et repas aux aînés. Dans les années 1980, une grande rénovation a 
permis d’intégrer des lits de soins afin que les résidents puissent « vieillir sur place ». 
En 2014, l’ancien bâtiment a été remplacé par une résidence moderne spécialement 
conçue pour les soins complexes. Le 7 juin 2016, le premier résident a été accueilli 
dans le nouveau Foyer.

 • Sales and Marketing Support (AI-powered) 

a. Assist in building AI-generated lead lists, outreach messages, and sales content to 

promote Tamarack’s consulting, training, and events to new audiences. 

b. Help segment our audience data by sector, geography, or interest using AI tools 

and CRM platforms. 

c. Set up basic automations for lead follow-ups and newsletter personalization. 

d. Increase Tamarack's revenue targets and sales funnels. 

 • Content Creation and Repurposing 

a. Turn webinars and events into podcast episodes to expand our digital reach. 

b. Use AI tools (like Canva, ChatGPT, and Descript) to help repurpose content into 

blog posts, videos, carousels, and infographics. 

c. Offer suggestions for asset creation for campaigns using AI 

 • Research &amp; Trend 

a. Monitor AI, podcast, and digital media trends to help us stay ahead in our 

communications strategy. 

b. Suggest creative, low-cost ways to reach new audiences based on emerging 

platforms and tools. 

 • Cross-Departmental Collaboration 

a. Support the Development team with early-stage ideas for donor outreach, 

fundraising campaigns, and partner engagement tools using AI. 

b. Support data entry and reporting for new marketing and sales initiatives. 

 • Administrative and Events 

a. Support operational needs and help to lead the implementation of AI into the 

general operations of the organization, including software integration and 

enhancements. 

b. Assist in the development of AI policies, procedures and early framework of an 

external Communities of Practice for AI use. 

c. Support and co-lead the solicitation of specified events and gatherings

reconciliation principles into day-to-day work. 

 • Report to the Associate Director, DSEL and the Chief Operating Officer. Participate in

Job Requirements 

 • Curiosity and comfort with AI tools (or a strong desire to learn quickly) 

 • A background in digital marketing, communications, media, or related fields (formal or 

informal) 

 • 1-3 years of experience in positions with similar responsibilities; not-for-profit experience 

an asset. 

 • Organized, creative thinker who’s eager to experiment and iterate 

 • Excellent written communication skills and an eye for good design 

 • Bonus: Experience with tools like Descript, Canva, HubSpot, Notion, Motion, Zapier or 

podcast production 

 • Project management software is considered an asset 

 • Experience working with diverse communities and understanding of the realities of 

equity-denied communities. 

 • Ability to work virtually, both independently and in co-operation with a small team. 

 • Ability to speak and write in English is required. Bilingualism (English and French) is a 

definite asset. 

 • Willingness/ability to travel, as required.

Supervision and Reporting 

The AI Sales &amp; Engagement Coordinator, DSEL reports to the Associate Director, DSEL and the 

Chief Operating Officer. They are a member of the DSEL team and are required to contribute to 

the overall achievement of Tamarack’s strategic goals and deliverables of the Tamarack team. 


Work Environment 

This is a full-time 40-hour per week 1-year contract position. As with most positions at 

Tamarack, you may reside in any location in Canada. Tamarack is a remote work environment, 

and your designated office space may be in your home. In some cases, Tamarack will rent team 

members office space near their preferred location in Canada, preferably co-located with 

another nonprofit organization. 


Conflict of Interest Policy 

For full-time positions Tamarack asks team members to devote their full time and attention to 

Tamarack’s operations and conduct themselves in accordance with our Conflict of Interest

Salary &amp; Benefits 

Tamarack provides a competitive salary and benefits, annual professional development fund, 

technology fund, flex time, and Focus Fridays - one day per week where we are encouraged to 

take only critical meetings. Our paid time off includes the flexible option to take three (3) 

statutory holidays on days that hold meaning to you. We close our offices the last week of 

December. Tamarack operates within a progressive management philosophy. This is a full-time 

40-hour per week 1-year contract position, and the starting salary range is between $60,000 and 

$65,000 a year. The successful candidate will be offered a salary that is commensurate with 

experience.

The interview process will consist of a first and second-round interview, led by current Tamarack 

team members familiar with the role. Tamarack designs interview processes to support

compensated $100 CAD for their time.
