Job Summary 

Board Members at Blue Door are passionate community leaders who provide strategic 

oversight, governance, and advocacy to advance the organization’s mission of preventing and 

ending homelessness. They contribute their expertise to support innovative, equity-focused 

solutions in housing, health, and employment, and serve as ambassadors for Blue Door’s vision 

of safe, stable, and supportive communities for all. 


 The Board of Directors Responsibilities: 

 • Determining the mission and purpose of the organization 

 • Overseeing the selection and performance of the CEO. 
 • Ensuring the strategic planning process is thorough and complete, as well as the oversight 

of its implementation by Management. 
 • Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight, risk mitigation, financial management and growth 

strategies. 

 • Enhancing Blue Door’s public image. 
 • Assessing the Boards own performance as the governing body of Blue Door. 
 • Serve as an active advocate and ambassador for the organization and fully engage in 

identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships necessary for Blue Door to 
advance its mission. 

 • Providing a personal financial donation annually that is within the individual Director’s 
means. 

 • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in person at board meetings. 

 • Participate fully in one or more committees. 
 
Time Commitment 

 • Attend regular board meetings (approximately 11 per year) in-person. The Board typically 
meets on Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30 pm. Board meetings are held in person at Blue 


Door’s Construct Training Centre (212 Earl Stewart Dr., Aurora, ON L4G 6V7). While some 
committee meetings may be virtual, Board members are expected to attend regular on-site 
meetings throughout the year. Please note that we are currently seeking individuals based 
in the Greater Toronto Area or those able to reliably attend in-person meetings. 

 • Participate in a minimum of one Board Committee, meeting approximately 8 times 
annually. 

 • One Years' notice of meetings is provided to the Board of Directors. 
 • Board members must commit to a three (3) year term renewable maximum of up to two 

times. 
 • One Annual Board retreat, generally this is a Saturday in the month of May. This meeting is 

in person and may not have a virtual option available. 

 • Optional and appreciated participation in volunteer, donor and public events

ROLE OVERVIEW 

The Coffee Connections Event Support Volunteer will play a key role in ensuring a welcoming 

and organized experience for attendees. This event provides individuals living with age-related 

macular degeneration (AMD) and their families an opportunity to connect with others, share 

experiences, and gain insights from experts in the field. Volunteers will assist with event 

logistics, guest support, and accessibility needs. 


Responsibilities 

 • Greet attendees and provide directions within the venue. 

 • Providing a sighted guide to guests with vision loss (training will be provided). 

 • Help set up and maintain the refreshment area, ensuring items are stocked and 

accessible. 

 • Distribute event materials such as name tags, handouts, and registration lists. 

 • Support seating arrangements and assist attendees in finding their designated areas. 

 • Provide basic technical support if needed (e.g., helping attendees access digital 

materials). 

 • Assist with post-event cleanup and packing materials. 


Qualifications 

 • Friendly and welcoming demeanor. 

 • Comfortable assisting individuals with vision loss (training provided). 

 • Reliable and punctual.

The Role: 
The Instructor Therapist, Adult Services is responsible for working directly with adults with ASD and their families 
in the provision of an ABA Day Support program to include but not limited to, conducting assessments, writing, 
implementing, and monitoring behaviour plans, data collection and display, as well as training and supporting 
caregivers. 
 
What your Day Looks Like: 
The Instructor Therapist-Adult Services provides direct service in ABA (under the supervision of an RBA Ont.) in a 
one-on-one and/or in a group setting to include but not limited to the following: 
 • Implementing programs according to the treatment plan 
 • Carry a caseload of clients 
 • Assist in the development and provide input into each client’s curriculum 
 • Address personal care requirements of the client during each session 
 • Monitor and track behavioural data/follow behavioural protocols 
 • Prepare teaching materials 
 • Record and graphs data, write reports and progress notes and flags exceptional circumstances as well as the 

need for changes to the program plan 
 • Participate in the treatment planning process with caregivers and relevant others 
 • Ensures ongoing communication with Senior Therapist 
 • Liaise daily with caregivers about the progress of the session 
 • Liaise with external stakeholders 
 • Lead crisis management techniques where necessary using Crisis Prevention and Intervention 
 • Organize weekly schedule for clients 
 • Demonstrates and explains effective strategies; models, supports, mentors and guides the Junior Adult

What you Bring to the Role: 
 • University degree or College diploma in behavioural sciences, social services, psychology or early childhood 

education 
 • Minimum of 1 year work experience required (2 years work experience preferred) 
 • Previous experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and/or Autism 


 
 
 • Equivalent education and experience may be considered 
 • Team lead/mentor experience an asset 
 • Have a good understanding of Developmental Services Ontario (DSO), autism and applied behaviour analysis 
 • Available to work evenings, weekend, in home and centre based 
 • An interest in professional development and further developing clinical skills

In this key leadership role, you will oversee a range of community inclusion programs serving 
individuals with disabilities and their families. You will support and guide program managers, lead 
strategic initiatives, and drive innovation by identifying and developing new services that meet 
emerging community needs. 

 
Key Responsibilities 

 • Lead and supervise Community Inclusion programs (e.g., STAGE, Adult Life Skills, Children’s &amp; 
Youth Programs) 

 • Mentor and support program staff, including hiring, onboarding, and performance planning 

 • Ensure program quality, compliance, and accreditation standards 
 • Oversee program budgets, contribute to funding applications, and manage special projects 

 • Champion innovation in program development and community inclusion practices 
 • Familiarity with budgeting processes 
 • Experience working with provincial funders (CLBC, MCFD, etc.) 

 • Identify gaps in program areas and opportunities for program growth &amp; development 
 • Represent the NSDRC in external networks and community partnerships 

 
Qualifications 

 • Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field, Master’s degree preferred 
 • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience in the sector 
 • Strong knowledge of disability-related issues, inclusion practices, and community resources 

 • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills 
 • Experience writing and applying for grants is a benefit

Cecil Community Centre is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a board member vacancy and to extend an invitation to those candidates to participate in our Board of Management Committees.&nbsp;Cecil Community Centre is a not-for-profit, multi-service community neighbourhood centre that offers a broad range of recreational, educational, social, cultural and capacity-building programs to area residents. For more than 40 years, the Centre has played a vital role in the lives of community members of all ages. Our Centre provides programs and services for children, youth, adults and seniors. Programs include an EarlyON Family Resource Centre, Community Drop-in, senior’s health and wellness classes, youth programs, and CecilKids! Children’s programs. The Centre partners with a variety of community organizations to provide services to the community,e.g. seniors’ health and fitness classes, English language instruction for newcomers, and income tax clinics for people who are low-income. The Centre is an accessible, multi-functional, City of Toronto facility, with an independent Board of Management. We also provide program and activity spaces to the community at large.
