Management / Executive

Description

For nearly 140 years, the Glebe Centre has enriched the lives of seniors through compassionate care, innovation, and community service. Since 1886, it has earned a reputation as one of Ottawa’s most respected providers of long-term care and community-based seniors’ services. As a CARF-accredited, not-for-profit charitable organization, the Glebe Centre delivers a continuum of care through its Long-Term Care Home and community programs at Abbotsford. Guided by its values of Accountability, Compassion, Well-being and Commitment, it is committed to dignity, respect, and quality of life for all residents, clients, families, volunteers, and staff.

The Glebe Centre enters a pivotal phase as Ontario’s seniors’ care system evolves in response to demographic pressures, regulatory change, and new models of care. The Board seeks an exceptional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization’s next chapter—strengthening core foundations while advancing innovation, partnerships, and long-term sustainability.

The Opportunity - Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Board Chair, the CEO leads the organization and holds accountability for strategic direction, operational performance, and long-term sustainability. The CEO advances the mission of the Glebe Centre while ensuring high-quality, person-centred care across all services. This role demands a visible and engaged leader who integrates strategic vision with disciplined execution, delivering operational excellence while positioning the organization for long-term success in a complex healthcare environment. The CEO will build on a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, ensuring responsiveness to residents, clients, families, and community needs.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate is a collaborative, values-driven executive with a proven record of leadership in healthcare, seniors’ care, community services, or other not-for-profit mission-driven environments. They hold a university degree in a relevant discipline such as healthcare, nursing, business, finance, public administration, or social work; a graduate degree is an asset. Completion of, or willingness to complete, the Administrator Leadership Program through AdvantAge Ontario is expected. They bring senior executive experience in a unionized environment, with accountability for strategy, operations, financial stewardship, and organizational performance. They demonstrate strong knowledge of Ontario’s long-term care sector, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, accreditation standards, and relevant employment and occupational health and safety legislation.

Join Us

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Ottawa’s most respected seniors’ care organizations at a defining moment in its evolution. The successful candidate builds on a distinguished legacy while shaping the future of compassionate, innovative, and sustainable care for seniors. If you are inspired by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and those who care for them, we welcome your interest. To learn more about this exceptional leadership opportunity, please contact Mike Lupiano at 613-862-2999 or Nicole Poirier at 613-915-5030 in the strictest confidence, or submit your curriculum vitae and a thoughtful letter of introduction to glebecentre.ceo@lupianosearch.com.

We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for interviews will be contacted. The Glebe Centre is an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Applications are encouraged from all qualified candidates, including Indigenous peoples, visible minorities, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those from culturally diverse backgrounds. Accommodations are available upon request throughout the recruitment process.
