Board Member, Finance | Volunteer

Intellectual Disabilities (North & West Vancouver) Society (IDS) is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our volunteer Board of Directors.

IDS is a North Vancouver-based nonprofit organization supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live fulfilling lives and participate fully in their communities. With approximately 300 employees, we provide residential supports, community inclusion, supported employment, social enterprise, life skills development, and family respite.

The Opportunity

As a Board Member with a finance focus, you will bring financial insight and sound judgment to the governance of the organization. You will contribute to oversight of financial performance, budgeting, audit, risk, and longer-term financial planning.

This is a governance role, not an operational finance position.

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Strong financial literacy and experience in financial oversight
  • Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, audit, risk, or strategic financial planning
  • Sound judgment and an understanding of good governance
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills
  • An interest in contributing to the nonprofit and community services sector
  • A CPA designation or senior-level finance, accounting, banking, investment, or business experience would be an asset

Time Commitment

Board members are expected to attend:

  • One Finance Committee meeting per month, held online
  • One Board meeting per month, held onsite in North Vancouver

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Why Join IDS?

This is an opportunity to use your financial experience for something larger than the numbers. You will help guide an established community organization, strengthen its financial stewardship, and contribute to decisions that directly support people with intellectual disabilities.

If you believe strong financial stewardship and strong communities go hand in hand, we would be pleased to hear from you.
