Join Our Volunteer Board of Directors and Make a Difference!

The South Peace Community Resources Society is looking for a new Board member to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to lend your expertise, relationships, and commitment to promote our mission of strengthening communities and connecting individuals in need to services, resources and advocacy. As a board member, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our organization and ensuring our programs create lasting impact.

What we do

The South Peace Community Resources Society is a long-standing and vital member of the local non-profit sector, providing essential services to families and individuals in the Peace Liard Region. We aim to work from a Client-Centered, Trauma-Informed place of acceptance and compassion where all members of society are worthwhile and valued.

Established in 1974, the South Peace Community Resources Society is a non-profit, multi-service, community-based, social service agency. Our team of 100+ staff and volunteers provide services at 14 locations in Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Fort St. John and Fort Nelson. Our clients are children, youth, seniors, women and individuals with diverse abilities. We provide victim and outreach services, safety, housing and legal support, at home support for seniors, referrals and many more.

At SPCRS we believe that all people are valued and deserve opportunities to develop to the fullest extent of their potential. Each year thousands of people walk through our doors looking for help in one of our 26 programs.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A commitment to our mission and values.
  • Skills and expertise in legal, finance, fundraising, safety and HR are considered an asset, but not required.
  • A passion for the organization’s mission, brought forward in lively discussions and strategic planning.
  • A willingness to attend board meetings, participate in committees, and advocate for our programs. Attend Annual General Meeting and planning sessions
  • Support the Executive Director in advancing the interests of people and families served
  • Ability to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours per month to the Board of Director (including the monthly board meeting)
  • Act with integrity, honesty, and in good faith in the best interests of the South Peace Community Resources Society and the people we serve
  • Willingness to learn about and provide oversight on the financial wellbeing of the organization
  • A positive and empathetic attitude
  • Leadership skills and a high level of accountability

Applicants do not need to reside in Dawson Creek, but an understanding of the specific challenges of a non-profit working in a rural Northern BC community is required.
