Job SummaryShuswap Children’s Association, originally the Shuswap Exceptional Children’s Association, was founded in 1982 by a group of parents of children with support needs who found they were unable to access services for their children. They were joined by community professionals, service providers, and others who shared the goals of the parents.&nbsp;As a leader within the organization and the community and under the direction of the policies and procedures outlined in the Shuswap Children’s Association program manuals, it is the responsibility of the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to provide services to children birth to school age with support needs, including assessment, treatment planning and progress evaluations. Peer Outreach Educator (Nail Salon Workers Project)&nbsp;Part-time positions of up to 9 months, with the possibility of an extension&nbsp;Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre (PQWCHC) is a dynamic, community-based health care organization that has historically served mid-west downtown Toronto and now provides outreach services across the entire city. Offering a broad range of services, including primary care, dental care, harm reduction, health promotion, counselling, and community development programming, we are also committed to serving people who face barriers to health care, and we strive to reduce these barriers.&nbsp;PQWCHC is a multi-site organization.&nbsp;Project Overview&nbsp;The Nail Salon Workers Project (NSWP), an initiative of PQWCHC, has received funding from the Metcalf Foundation to expand the NSWP to Black and Latin American nail technicians. This project will focus on building safer nail salons by understanding and addressing health and labour issues facing Black and/or Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking nail technicians working in discount nail salons.&nbsp; &nbsp;This project aims to understand the specific needs of Black and Latin American nail technicians, while providing resources to support improved health and labor related outcomes. Additionally, this project will support the Nail Technicians Network (NTN) to build a broader base by: outreaching to nail technicians, engaging nail technicians in training opportunities and providing opportunities to advocate for better working conditions. Peer Outreach Educators will be the first point of contact for nail technicians and owners throughout this project.&nbsp;Peer Outreach Workers will be required to participate in training related to workers’ rights, community engagement, community-based research, (qualitative) research methods, Microsoft 365 applications, and program facilitation.
