Reporting to: VOKRA Board & Managing Director

VOKRA is seeking a passionate and creative individual to fulfill the role of Fundraising Lead on a volunteer basis.

Who We Are:

For over 20 years, Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) has been living our mission to end cat overpopulation and homelessness, and you can be part of that!

At VOKRA, we rescue, heal, then place cats - first in our network of foster homes, then in carefully matched, loving, forever homes. We are a passionate, volunteer-driven charity with extensive cat care experience. We believe that no kill is the only responsible approach to rescue, that Trap-Neuter-Return works, and that cats are AWESOME! Each year we rescue over 1,400 kittens and cats in the Lower Mainland. To learn more about VOKRA and the impact we make, we encourage you to visit www.vokra.ca.

Who You Are:

The Fundraising Lead, reporting to the Board, is responsible for coordinating and supporting fundraising initiatives, inspiring and securing donors, executing the annual fundraising plan, leading donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities.

You are an entrepreneurial leader and gifted communicator with a talent for building relationships. You will use your experience to grow VOKRA’s existing fundraising strategies and develop new ideas and programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and be accountable for the creation, implementation, management and evaluation of an integrated fundraising strategy.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard volunteers for fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with VOKRA's mission and values.
  • Continue to maintain, develop and grow the annual giving program, including direct digital campaigns, monthly giving and memorial/tribute giving.
  • Leverage technology (fundraising database) to manage donor records and engagement.
  • Collaborate on and participate in the planning, organizing, and executing of new and existing fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives, including VOKRA’s annual Walk for the Kitties, to raise funds for the organization.
  • Establish, maintain and foster relationships with donors, sponsors and community partners, with a focus on donor acquisition, retention and renewal.
  • Be proactive initiating regular interaction with the Marketing and Communications teams on fund development messaging and collateral materials.
  • Oversee and manage the Grant Writing team to ensure compelling applications are submitted for existing and new grant opportunities to secure funding
  • Prepare and submit monthly progress reports to the Board of Directors.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Passion for animal welfare and keen interest in VOKRA's mission.
  • Several years of experience in professional fundraising and volunteer management.
  • Confident communicator, with exceptional verbal and written skills with experience developing fundraising campaigns and materials.
  • Experience with a range of fundraising revenue streams, including monthly giving and digital appeals.
  • Experience with fundraising databases (DonorPerfect and Zeffy experience is an asset).
  • Leadership skills with the ability to foster a positive, open and collaborative work environment.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable and has a keen interest in VOKRA with a willingness and curiosity to learn more.
  • Resourceful, detail-oriented self-starter.
