About CMHA North & West Vancouver

CMHA North & West Vancouver is a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and supporting community well-being through various programs and services such as Counselling, Outreach, Crisis Response, Social Support Programs, and Education.

About the Project

We are seeking a creative and passionate university or college student to support the development of a digital awareness campaign for the Crisis Response Community-Led (CRCL) North Shore program. CRCL provides compassionate, community-based support for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

The volunteer videographer will spend 20-40 hours to help create engaging short-form video content for social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Content will highlight:

  • What CRCL is and how the service works
  • How CRCL supports individuals experiencing a mental health crisis
  • The role of crisis responders and team members
  • Stories, insights, and educational information about community-based crisis support
  • Mental health awareness and stigma reduction messaging

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with CMHA staff to develop video concepts and storyboards
  • Film interviews with CRCL team members and crisis responders
  • Capture b-roll footage that supports campaign storytelling
  • Edit short-form videos and reels optimized for social media platforms
  • Incorporate branding, captions, and accessibility considerations where possible
  • Participate in project planning meetings and feedback sessions
  • Deliver finalized video content according to agreed timelines

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college, university, or post-secondary program
  • Access to personal video equipment (camera, smartphone with high-quality video capabilities, microphone, lighting equipment, etc.)
  • Experience filming and editing video content
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in mental health, community engagement, or social impact initiatives

Assets

  • Experience creating content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, or LinkedIn
  • Knowledge of video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut)
  • Understanding of social media content trends and best practices
