Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Human Resources professional to join our team in a multifaceted role that supports both day-to-day HR operations and strategic initiatives. Responsibilities 
 

PRIMARY PURPOSE 

 
Works closely with the EDI program manager, facilitates the delivery of EDI programs, and 
supports CMBC EDI on daily activities, programs, projects, and initiatives. Responds to 
inquiries and research information. 

 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

 
Applies expertise to support the delivery of EDI programs, projects and initiatives which 
include but are not limited to Employee Engagement opportunities, EDI presence at depots, 
Policy and Field Research, Surveys and Data Collection, Outreach and Communications, 
amongst other activities. 

 
Supports the implementation of EDI programs and initiatives, which may include drafting

correspondence, coordinating materials, meetings, workshops, events, and assisting with 
facilitating sessions. 

 
Applies expertise for creation and delivery of EDI training and educational materials for 
distribution to CMBC employees and teams at various locations. Attends and delivers EDI 
information sessions to teams across CMBC. 

 
Liaises with CMBC employees and navigates difficult EDI-related conversations, resistance to 
EDI, and provides advice, recommendations, and educational follow up for complaint 
resolution. 

 
Supports the implementation of metrics and evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of 
EDI programs and initiatives. 

 
Conducts research on best practices and emerging trends in EDI and identify areas and 
provide recommendations for program enhancements. 

 
Collects data and feedback from CMBC teams and employees to support the development 
and enhancement of our EDI programs, initiatives, and sessions. Proactively investigates and 
identifies needs and shares recommendations for improvement for programs, 

 
Supports the program manager with preparation of reports and presentations on EDI 
initiatives for senior leadership. 

 
Collaborates with enterprise Communications and EDI teams in rolling out CMBC EDI 
communications and initiatives. 

 
Supports communications and relationship-building with external organizations and 
community groups that align with our EDI goals. 

 
Applies knowledge of organizational policies and collective agreement provisions when 
responding to employee queries and seeks clarification and/or guidance as required. 

 
Provides ad hoc support as required on various EDI functions and projects.

Qualifications 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
 
The competencies for the position would be acquired through completion of a 
Diploma in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, Social Justice, EDI or a related 
field, plus four (4) years of related experience in a human resource or EDI environment, giving 
preference to exposure in a unionized environment. 
 
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 
 
Solid working knowledge and understanding of EDI concepts, principles, theories and practices. 
 
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills in navigating difficult EDI-related 
conversations, resistance to EDI, and in high pressure environments. 
 
Intermediate to advanced skills with MS programs including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and 
working knowledge of PeopleSoft. 
 
Solid written and verbal communication skills. 
 
Solid time management skills and demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, 
multi-task, and able to meet multiple deadlines. 
 
Strong organizational and analytical skills, to effectively research, coordinate and, analyze, a var
iety of information. 
 
Solid problem solving and decision-making skills. 
 
Demonstrates initiative and can work independently. 
 
Demonstrated discretion and confidentiality is essential to be able to assess requests for private
 information and to be able to deny or escalate such requests, if required. 
 
 
Other Information 
 
Ability to travel to various CMBC depot locations on a regular basis is preferred.

The salary for this position ranges from $82,400 - $123,600 per annum. Actual salary offered

The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Manager to lead 
and oversee our HR function. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the Executive 
Director, responsible for strategic and day-to-day HR operations across the organization. The 
successful candidate will ensure compliance with all employment legislation and the Collective 
Agreement while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. 
 
This role will lead labour relations, recruitment, policy development, performance management, 
and employee engagement. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and staff to support our 
dedicated team and help build organizational capacity in alignment with Red Door’s mission and 
values. 
 
Key responsibilities: 

 • Lead, plan, and evaluate all aspects of the Human Resources department 
 • Supervise and support the HR Coordinator 
 • Manage the full range of HR processes, including recruitment, policy development, 

wage/salary changes, payroll reporting, and recordkeeping 
 • Ensure compliance with all employment legislation, health and safety regulations, and 

Red Door policies 
 • Lead labour relations, including grievance resolution, contract negotiations, and 

Collective Agreement interpretation 
 • Support annual staffing and budget planning with the senior leadership team 
 • Coordinate or deliver employee training and regulatory requirements 
 • Conduct workplace investigations and resolve conflicts and complaints 


 • Manage accommodation and return-to-work processes in accordance with Human 
Rights legislation 

 • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance management and 
employee development 

 • Consult with external legal counsel and HR service providers as required 
 • Ensure payroll compliance in partnership with Finance and senior leadership 
 • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director 

 
Qualifications 

 • Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or a 
related field 

 • Certificate in Human Resources Management from an accredited institution 

 • CHRP or CHRL designation preferred; HRPA membership in good standing 

 • Minimum 5 years of experience in an HR generalist or leadership role 

 • Strong understanding of HR legislation, including ESA, Human Rights, AODA, OHSA, 
and Pay Equity 

 • Experience with HRIS (Humi), payroll systems, and employee file management 

 • Proven ability to lead HR initiatives in unionized settings 

 • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills 

 • High level of discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence 

 • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 

 • Strong people management skills and the ability to effectively manage and support staff. 

 • Strong verbal and written communication skills, who is sensitive to others, an active 

listener and non-judgmental. 

 • Sound judgment and excellent problem-solving/crisis-management skills 

 • Good decision-making skills with the ability to motivate and direct others. 

 • Good conflict management and dispute resolution skills
