About the RoleEnvironmental Defence Canada (EDC) is a leading Canadian environmental advocacy organization that works with government, industry and individuals to defend clean water, a safe climate and healthy communities. EDC is looking for a Regional Coordinator that would support our efforts to engage communities in York Region (Aurora, Georgina, King City, Markham, Richmond Hill, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Vaughan, Newmarket). This is a 2 year contract role which is part-time with about 8-16 hours per week at a rate of $24 an hour.&nbsp;Purpose of the RoleWe know that community connection and civic engagement is at the heart of real and effective environmental change. Volunteer Assistant Convention Ambassador Program&nbsp;Temporary Contract dates: Friday, Feb. 27 - Wednesday, March 4, 2026 (6 days in person work) Dec. 2025 to Jan. 2026 Additional casual/flexible hours (approximately 20 hours of remote work)&nbsp;Description&nbsp;Have you ever wanted to work on a very large event? This position offers the opportunity to be a part of an award-winning Convention.&nbsp;PDAC 2026: The World’s Premier Mineral Exploration &amp; Mining Convention will take place from March 1-4 in Toronto. The convention brings together an ever-growing audience of more than 27,000 attendees from over 125 countries for its educational programming, networking events, business opportunities and fun. Since it began in 1932, event is a gathering where familiar faces reunite, new connections are forged, and the future of mineral exploration takes shape one conversation at a time. It hosts more than 1,300 exhibitors and 700 presenters.&nbsp;The Role&nbsp;Under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator, this position will assist with training and shift management of Convention Ambassadors (volunteers). Convention Ambassadors greet attendees and assist them in navigating the convention smoothly. Volunteers are primarily students, and are given the opportunity to volunteer in exchange for a complimentary registration to the event (among other benefits).
